<b>Key Responsibilities:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable</li>
<li>Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures</li>
<li>Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders</li>
<li>Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs</li>
<li>Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records</li>
<li>Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting</li>
<li>Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions</li>
<li>Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care</li>
<li>Phlebotomy</li>
<li>Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
<b>Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.</li>
<li>Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA). Current BLS certification is required.</li>
<li>Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred</li>

   Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.

   Gathers patient data through interview and observation.

   Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.

   Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
  </li>
  <li>
   Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.

   Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.
  </li>
  <li>
   Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
  </li>

   Assists the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provides scheduling information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation.
  </li>

   Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under the direction of a provider.
  </li>

   Adheres to and assures compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards.
