 Job Description
 
 
 
 As a Health Services Coding Analyst, you will provide clinical leadership and subject-matter expertise to support the analysis, configuration, and administration of complex medical policy content within claims processing systems, including Plan General Exclusion (PGE) rules and FACETS table maintenance. You will ensure the accurate implementation of medical policies, review criteria, and authorization requirements, while maintaining the integrity of system infrastructure and serving as a key liaison between business and technical teams. To do this, you will research and analyze system and business issues, develop high-level requirements, test and implementsolutions, and audit and document outcomes. The Health Services Coding Analyst also serves as an expert resource for medical policy configuration and PGE coding, mentoring and training Coding Specialists, and providing policy-related training and support to operational partners such as customer and provider services.

 Leadership in Coding Analysis: Lead the analysis of the most complex Wellmark medical policy content and implementation of system edits to support its intent. Medical policy coding requirements are implemented, tested, documented and audited to assure compliance.
 </li>

 Maintain the claims processing system infrastructure to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies and vendor supported technical requirements and ensure accurate claims adjudication.
 </li>
 <li>
 Translate complex medical policy language into precise, actionable coding criteria for integration into claims systems and configuration platforms.

 <li>
 Serve as coding subject matter expert for complex or escalated utilization management.

 Collaborate with Utilization Management nurses, medical directors, and claims teams to resolve coding-related denials, overrides, and policy interpretation questions.

 Maintain coding integrity by monitoring utilization trends to identify and resolve system configuration issues.

 Work with Medical Policy Leadership in the development and optimization of coding configuration standards and best practices.

 Work with payment integrity, business support, and data analytics teams to edit, develop, and implement Optum, Cotiviti, and Cognizant edits.

 Contribute to the achievement of corporate and UM Product Team objectives by independently serving as primary points of contact and UM Product Team Subject Matter Expert/Guest Star to provide expertise to support the various claims processing systems, including but not limited to PGE rules and table maintenance (FACETS and STAR). This will include attendance to various virtual cross-functional team meetings, as well as in-person attendance and participation in quarterly Iteration Planning meeting.

 Update coding files as required by code set revisions, HIPAA-AS, medical policy development and implementation, regulatory requirements, FEP and Blue Card guidelines, or as needed to support other internal processes.
 </li>

 Participate in cross functional meetings or initiatives to support the goal of managing medical benefit expense.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide expertise in the areas of medical coding PGE rule knowledge and medical policy configuration rules to support projects and broad organization initiatives. Consult with leadership as business decisions are made and retain and archive documentation of decisions made. Comply with regulatory standards, accreditation standards and internal guidelines; remain current and consistent with the standards pertinent to the Medical Policy team.

The MRA Coding Auditor supports departmental Quality Assessment audits of internal Coding Analyst team and vendors to ensure accurate and complete data is submitted to CMS. Assists in Risk Adjustment related data audits (RAF, prevalence, clinical documentation improvement, P360, process) audits to identify areas of opportunity for improvement (training, data integrity, chart reviews).
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Supports regular quality assurance (QA) audits of internal Coding Analyst Team to validate and confirm coding &amp; abstracting quality (95% HCC accuracy). These ongoing audits ensure coding quality &amp; performance improvement standards are maintained, achieved &amp; improved per department policies and procedures. 
2. Tracks and reports progress of QA audits performed on the coding vendors to verify the coding accuracy and quality of the data submitted to AHP is accurate for submission to CMS. 
3. Works with Risk Adjustment Management on any MRA data validation / coding audit to ensure completeness and coding accuracy of all submissions to CMS. This work may encompass reviews of data for reconciliation, data flow integrity, UAT testing, high cost / low risk score members, retrospective chart reviews, or other risk adjustment related data review as directed by Manager. 
4. Analyzes and shares audit results with Manager. This information may be used for training physicians and clinical staff, documentation improvement, and system / process improvement. 
5. Utilizes, protects, and discloses Alignment Healthcare patients&rsquo; protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards. 
6. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state &amp;local regulations, as well as with institutional/organizational standards, practices, policies &amp; procedures.
7. Maintains professional / technical knowledge by attending appropriate educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies. Stay current of industry coding, compliance, and HCC issues. Required to maintain relevant continuing education units (CEUs) in relation to individual coding certifications.

 Position Summary
 
 
 
 Join Deloitte's AI &amp; Engineering practice to support hospital billing operations in a role focused on claim accuracy, timely reimbursement, and revenue cycle performance. As an Epic Hospital Billing Analyst , you will help review and submit hospital claims, resolve billing issues, and work across teams to reduce avoidable denials. This is a primarily remote role supporting an enterprise Epic implementation, with minimal travel and scheduled onsite time as needed.

 Work you'll do
 
 
 
 As an Epic Hospital Billing Analyst e on the AI &amp; Engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting hospital billing activities that improve claim accuracy, reduce denials, and help clients optimize revenue cycle performance.
 
 
 <ul>

 Review patient accounts, charge details, coding inputs, and supporting documentation for billing accuracy and completeness
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare and submit hospital claims to commercial, government, and other third-party payers in accordance with payer requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Validate claim data for demographics, insurance coverage, authorizations, provider information, modifiers, and coding-related elements; identify and correct claim edits, rejections, and billing errors before submission or rebilling
 </li>
 <li>
 Work with coding, registration, authorization, clinical, and accounts receivable teams to resolve billing issues, prevent avoidable denials, and submit supporting documentation required by payer guidelines
 </li>
 <li>
 Adhere to defined standard operating procedures and workflows while working in Epic Resolute Hospital Billing, claims clearinghouse systems, payer portals, and related tools; monitor work queues and reports, support complex claim resolution, and meet productivity and quality standards

 Experience using Epic Resolute Hospital Billing

 Experience using Epic Analytics and Reporting applications

 <li>
 Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

This compensation range is specific to the remote role and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 to $90,000.
