<p><b>Job Summary</b></p><p>The mission of the Instructor in the Education Department, regardless of curriculum, is to provide the student(s), our customers(s), with the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain entry-level employment in the field of their chosen program of study. To accomplish this mission, all instructors will utilize their talents, skills, and abilities in a coordinated and consistent team effort under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education. The following are essential qualifications, duties and areas of responsibility that each instructor agrees to accept as a condition of employment. Job duties and responsibilities are not limited to the items listed below.</p><p><b>Responsibilities and Duties</b></p><p>A. Classroom/Laboratory Management &ndash; the Instructor shall:</p><p>1. Provide students with a complete syllabus containing course objectives on the first day of class.</p><p>2. Exercise firm, fair and consistent class control.</p><p>3. Begin and end class/lab on time and facilitate the effective use of class time.</p><p>4. Maintain consistent performance when dealing with all students with respect to grading, documentation, policies, and discipline.</p><p>5. Provide the Director of Education or his/her designee with regular feedback relative to class and student progress and/or problems.</p><p>6. Provide student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework and projects.</p><p>7. Review academic progress with students on a regular basis, well in advance of the end of a course.</p><p>8. Ensure the classroom/laboratory facility is left in a clean and orderly manner upon conclusion of your scheduled session. 9. Supervise and manage assigned teaching and laboratory assistants.</p><p>10. Contact, via telephone, all absent students as required by the college.</p><p>11. Maintain an overall student attendance rate in accordance with the college&rsquo;s fiscal year attendance goal as measured at the end of the each term/module and annually.</p><p>12. Maintain an overall student retention rate in accordance with the college&rsquo;s fiscal retention goal as measured at the end of each module/term and annually.</p><p>B. Instructional Presentation &ndash; the Instructor shall:</p><p>1. Present enthusiastic, well-prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus.</p><p>2. Provide students with class/laboratory objectives daily.</p><p>3. Present material to meet or exceed all of the approved Course outcomes for the course.</p><p>4. Ensure that examination items are based upon and cover all approved Course Outcomes.</p><p>5. Utilize a variety of learning modalities and support materials to accentuate presentations and facilitate the learning process.</p><p>6. Provide the opportunity for individual tutoring and remediation.</p><p>7. Present &ldquo;self&rdquo; as a professional role model at all times.</p><p>8. Inspire student confidence in the company, college, faculty and self.</p><p>9. Relate the material you are presenting to the contemporary workplace.</p><p>10. Continually promote the development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, computation, problem solving, and decision-making.</p><p>C. Laboratory Activities &ndash; the Instructor shall:</p><p>1. Assign laboratory activities that coincide with and support the material presented in lecture sessions.</p><p>2. Actively supervise all scheduled laboratory activities and hours.</p><p>3. Ensure students working on appropriate assignments spend time productively.</p><p>4. Provide the opportunity for individual attention.</p><p>5. Provide additional assignments/projects as student progress dictates.</p><p>6. Assist in maintaining a clean lab and equipment in an operable condition.</p><p>7. Conduct initial troubleshooting measures on PCs and lab equipment and promptly label and report all equipment in need of repair.</p><p>8. <div><div><b>Nature and Scope</b></div>
<p>An incumbent in this class typically reports to the Dean of Instruction through an Instructional Director, Department Chairperson or Program Coordinator. An incumbent is expected to plan, organize, and instruct in a manner to promote and direct successful student learning in keeping with the College&rsquo;s values and goals.</p><br>

<div><div><b>Principal Accountabilities</b></div>
<div><p>An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities as determined by the supervisor:</p>
<p>
1. Plans, organizes, and instructs courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor, utilizing effective and engaging instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructional/educational technology to promote student success. Normal teaching contact hours per week are 18, unless otherwise modified by the Department Chairperson/Dean.</p>
<p>
2. Demonstrates best practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students&rsquo; diverse academic needs.</p>
<p>
3. Uses instructional technology including multimedia to meet students&rsquo; learning needs and achieve the objectives of the academic program/College.</p>
<p>
4. Assists or leads in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses, as assigned by the Department Chairperson/Dean. Evaluates and revises existing curriculum and courses as part of the annual course evaluation process and/or as assigned. Contributes to program review.</p>
<p>
5. Participates in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA).</p>
<p>
6. Serves as an advisor for students, utilizing effective advisement strategies, the Student Educational Plan and other advisement tools to promote student retention and progression.</p>
<p>
7. Assists students toward the successful completion of course(s) which the instructor is teaching by providing outreach, guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved forms of academic support.</p>
<p>
8. Makes oneself accessible and available to assist students. Provides a minimum of six (6) posted office hours per week to students.</p>
<p>
9. Maintains adequate and timely student records (e.g. grades are posted in the LMS in a timely fashion). Evaluates and reports students&rsquo; progress and attendance in a timely manner.</p>
<p>
10. Works as a team member with other faculty and staff to facilitate College and academic program operations and achieve goals and objectives. Provides guidance to new and adjunct faculty as assigned.</p>
<p>
11. Assists in attaining and maintaining program accreditation.</p>
<p>
12. Completes the New Faculty Development Program (NFDP) during the one-year probationary period to ensure understanding of the College&rsquo;s mission and preparation to instruct students with various learning styles and academic needs. Completes the Instructional Design Technology Certificate or can demonstrate mastery of its competencies.</p>
<p>
13. Continues professional development/growth and a commitment to continuous improvement as an instructor. Remains current within his/her academic field/discipline.</p>
<p>
14. Participates in departmental/campus/College meetings and serves on campus or collegewide committees. Participates in advisory committee meetings and other college and student-related activities. Advises student clubs and organizations as assigned.</p>
<p>
15. Participates in developing and implementing college policies, objectives, and/or functions in accordance with the philosophy of the College. Areas include, but are not limited to: departmental program planning, marketing, budget development, and public relations.</p>
<p>
16. Assists in providing support for operations/events/processes to enhance recruitment, enrollment/registration, advisement, transfer, and graduate employment, as assigned.</p>

17. Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing, as requested.</p>

<p>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field.<br>
Four (4) years of relevant experience.<br>
Registered Respiratory Therapist registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care.<br>
Licensed by the State of Delaware as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.</p>
