Gana-A'Yoo Support Services (GSS) is seeking an experienced Construction Quality Control Manager to oversee a SABER federal construction project in Charleston, SC; pending contract award.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING<ul><li>
Read and interpret specifications, plans, and resource documents to determine requirements and planning procedures as outlined in the RFP.</li><li>
Develop and implement Quality Control plan with responsibility for administration of the plan and inspection of work.</li><li>
Maintain current records providing factual evidence that required quality control activities and tests have been performed.</li><li>
Complete all reports and records in an accurate and timely manner.</li><li>
Perform two daily inspections, document, and update appropriate logs, including daily quality control reports.</li><li>
Conduct, attend, and participate in project meetings, including pre-final and final inspections.</li><li>
Coordinate Three Phase of Control Plan Preparatory, Initial and Final Phases.</li><li>
Maintain quality control by frequent and regular inspection of work and work-in progress.</li><li>
Maintain an orderly and clean presence on the job site and ensure full compliance with all safety requirements.</li><li>
Complete job close-out procedures.</li><li>
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; use reason when dealing with emotional topics.</li><li>
Able to work in Quality Control System (QCS)/ USACE Resident Management System (RMS 3.0)</li><li>

ABOUT YOU<ul><li>
An accredited associate's degree in construction management or a related civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical field</li><li>
5 years of specialized experience as a project/job inspector or quality control specialist in a construction environment</li><li>
Minimum 5 years of experience as a QC Manager, including civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing disciplines.</li><li>
Current certificate of completion of Construction Quality Managers for Contractors course, is a plus.</li><li>
Design/Build experience is a plus.</li><li>
US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Manager Course completion required.

A day in the life:<ul><li>
Verify the quality of field-tested materials incorporated into the project by the contractor, such as soil, crushed aggregates, Portland cement concrete and asphalt concrete</li><li>
Verify work is accurate and help correct deficiencies.</li><li>
Monitor contractor&rsquo;s processes, procedures and progress.</li><li>
Inspects the quality of materials being placed and the contractor&rsquo;s methods of construction to ensure compliance with specifications.</li><li>
Perform construction inspection as needed.</li><li>
Participate in project plan development reviews.</li><li>
Assure the contractor&rsquo;s quality control program meets the required standards for all projects assigned to the resident engineer&rsquo;s office.</li><li>
Provide technical expertise to project inspectors and contractor personnel on testing procedures.</li><li>
Prepare and maintain the test summary for materials on each project.</li><li>
Assist in writing contract change orders for material related items.</li><li>
Review preliminary and advanced plans for appropriate material specifications.</li><li>
Work in an office environment and in the field in all weather conditions.</li><li>

Minimum qualifications:
A bachelor&rsquo;s degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related) and one year of engineering technician experience in construction inspection, surveying and/or permitting;
OR
An associate degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related) and two years of engineering technician experience in construction inspection, surveying and/or permitting;
OR
Four years of experience in the field of engineering in construction inspection, surveying and/or permitting;
OR
An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
 Note: Related experience, education, and training can include, but is not limited to construction management, forestry, geography, geology, geomatics, mathematics, physics, remote sensing and/or urban planning.
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Experience motivating, training, coaching, developing and directing work of crew members.</li><li>
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods and contract administration procedures.</li><li>
Preference will be given to those who have obtained the following material certifications in Nuclear Radiation Safety and Operation, Certified Aggregate Technician (CAgT), Certified Embankment and Base Technician (CEBT), Certified Density Technician (CDT), Certified Asphalt Technician I (CAT1), and Quality Control Technician (QCT).</li><li>
Preference will be given to those who have obtained the following construction inspection certifications in General Construction Inspector, Certified Environmental Construction Inspector, Certified Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor, Asphalt Concrete Pavement Inspector, Certified Bridge Construction Inspector, Certified Traffic Signal Inspector, Drilled Shaft Inspector, and ADA Ramp Inspector.</li></ul>
