POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for consumer loans, home improvement, second mortgage, home equity, credit card, and overdraft account loans. Meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Assembles and evaluates loan applications. Presents loan requests above the lending limit for approval per loan. Ensures that members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Provides general Credit Union information and cross -sells services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES<ul><li>
Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications.</li><li>
Interviews, takes applications, gathers information, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests.</li><li>
Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Computes debt ratios. Verifies employment and income. Determines the value of collateral. Approves loans within the limits of authority and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required.</li><li>
Coordinates and processes closings. Ensures that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed.</li><li>
Calculates terms, finance charges, and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes.</li><li>
Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, refinances, problem loan workout arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases, and payment due date changes.</li><li>
Assumes responsibility for filing vehicle titles and prompt follow-up on titles still pending. Verifies car insurance coverage. Makes car appraisals.</li><li>
Sells credit union products and services.</li><li>
Performs duties of area personnel, as required.</li><li>
Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures that loan requests are properly documented.</li><li>
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members.</li><li>
Resolves members' requests and questions promptly and courteously. Provides blue book values and answers questions regarding government loans and real estate policies.</li><li>
Keeps members properly informed of Credit Union loan policies and services.</li><li>
Ensures that the Credit Union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained. Upholds the SSFCU Service Values.</li><li>
Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters.</li><li>
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management.</li><li>
Assists area personnel as needed. Assists other Loan Officers.</li><li>
Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. Type loans and all supporting documents as required. Ensures appropriate credit union documents are scanned.</li><li>
Attends meetings as required.</li><li>
Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.</li><li>
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.</li><li>
Actively and professionally cross-sells Credit Union services.</li><li>

Requirements:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually. Mortgage Loan Officer- Providence RI

<div>Originate real estate loans in accordance with Federal guidelines and established lending objectives, policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential customers.
Contact bank provided leads within a timely manner and as directed by supervisor, and also promotes and develops relationships with referral sources such as realtors, builders, attorneys, and other affinity groups to generate additional mortgage leads.
Interview applicants and request appropriate credit documentation and specified information for loan application.
Analyze applicant's financial status, credit and proposed property transaction to determine feasibility of granting loan.
Compile upfront compliance information and assure timeline requirements are met.
Answer applicant questions. Correspond with applicant to resolve questions regarding application information.
Match applicant's needs and qualifications with potential loan programs. Ensure loan meets selected program guidelines.
Submit loan package to Processor for processing in a timely manner.
Work closely with loan processor to assure loan is handled in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
Inform applicants of loan approval, denial or outstanding conditions.
Handle correspondence with applicant in regards to locking of loan and handles actual locking process in accordance with current company procedures and requirements.
Provide excellent customer service and solves customer related problems quickly.
Maintain and enhance market awareness including economic information, housing data and competitive trends; based on this information, helps develop programs or recommends product enhancement to address customer needs.
Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of products and services as well as the laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures appropriate to the position.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Realtors, Business Partners and any other potential business sources.
Support and cultivate bank referrals and relationships.
Communicate with all mortgage operations staff, along with others in the bank, by always projecting a positive, professional image.
Perform other duties when assigned. 

NOTE: Position can work remote with possible hybrid schedule required in the future
Requirements:
High School Diploma and commitment to continuing job related course work.
Two (2) years of loan originating with proven ability to support a pipeline of 10+ loan applications per month.

Working knowledge of prequalification principles and practices OR two (2) years of originating experience.
Strong sales skills.
Basic computer knowledge including Encompass, Microsoft Word, Excel, and a general understanding of the Internet.
Basic math ability.

Basic accounting/bookkeeping skills.
Ability to use a financial calculator.
Must be detail oriented; have the ability to prioritize.

Possess solid organizational and time management skills; and have solid problem solving and decision making skills.
Solid written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Must be able to work independently and handle multiple priorities under deadline pressures and time restraints.
Must strive for and consistently achieve customer satisfaction.</div>
