 The designee is responsible for guiding and assisting host nation in the overall the safe and orderly flow of air traffic within their designated airspace. This designee maintains situational awareness of the overall flow of air traffic operations at the facility assigned and is responsible for all ATC facility operations and services during their shift. Rules of separation must be applied to achieve the required separation as outlined in FAA manuals and orders. The designee coordinates with various controllers and personnel to relay information which pertains to the aircraft and in the interest of safety of flight including emergency information. The designee will be familiar with radar or control tower operations and apply the required separation of aircraft. The individual is responsible for vehicles and personnel operating on the airfield- when operating in a control tower environment.

  Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

   Graduate of an approved DoD or FAA ATC course.
  </li>

   Eight (8) years of experience, one (1) year of experience must be from performing in a like type facility. Knowledge of ATC rules, regulations, and techniques; control tower and approach control operations. Tower controllers shall hold one of the following tower certifications: FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Tower rating, or equivalent. Radar controllers shall hold one of the following radar certifications: Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Radar rating, FAA or DoD training records, or equivalent.

</p><p><b>Your Impact
</b></p><p>The Air Traffic Controller provides for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic in the assigned airspace or airport and assists aircraft in distress or emergency situations.
</p><div><ul><li>Receive, post, and relay flight data information, clearances, and messages.
</li><li>Issue arrival and departure instructions, aviation weather information, and special advisories to aircraft operating under their control.
</li><li>Issue information and clearances for properly separating and sequencing aircraft and monitors the flight progress of aircraft.
</li><li>Issue information and instructions for the orderly movement of traffic (aircraft, vehicles, and pedestrians) in the movement area.
</li><li>Coordinate with other controllers, facilities, and agencies to provide prompt ATC services.
</li><li>Coordinate arrival and departure times with flight operations.
</li><li>Coordinate ramp and refuel services for aircraft.
</li><li>Assist aircraft in emergency or distress situations.
</li><li>Maintain facility logs.
</li><li>Perform operator-level equipment checks and advise maintenance personnel and Facility Chief of any outages.
</li><li>Follow FAA, ICAO, DOD, and host nation aviation regulations and procedures.
</li><li>Complete annual weather training to take and disseminate supplemental weather observations.
</li><li>Assist in facility operations as directed by Shift Leader.
