Position Summary</b></p><p>
Under the general supervision of the Adult Services Librarian or the Area Manager, the Librarian performs professional-level library services and works both independently and with other staff to execute small to large-scale initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>

Provides technology and computer help to patrons, including expert-level assistance with the library&rsquo;s digital collection platforms.</li><li>
Continually researches the various needs of the adult community served and evaluates data to design relevant, easily accessible resources and programs for the service population, in collaboration with the Adult Services team.</li><li>
Provides customer service and information services in alignment with the organization&rsquo;s standard of excellence.</li><li>
Supports systemwide goals and initiatives.</li><li>
Understands current library trends and best practices and appropriately integrates these ideas into the daily work in the Adult Services Department.</li><li>

JCLS has a 16-step salary schedule with each step at 1.5%. The starting salary will be based on steps 1-5 on Grade N of the schedule. New hires are placed based on applicable education and experience to the job, as well as keeping within Oregon state pay equity laws. The starting range for this position is $28.31 to $30.08 per hour or $29,442 to $31,283 per year. Staff members who pass a Spanish language or American Sign Language competency test are eligible for a Bilingual Stipend per JCLS policy.</p><p><b>

<p></p><div><p>The Department of Libraries is seeking a Library Associate I. This highly adaptable position works for the Programs Department. The position provides support for the Programs Director and the Department as whole by performing general administrative tasks, such as filing, typing and organizing schedules. This role also includes project tracking and report reviewing, as well as providing occasional assistance with producing print and digital marketing materials, attending Outreach events, completing administrative tasks for NPL&rsquo;s volunteer program and more.</p>

<div><p>Essential functions include but are not limited to:</p><br>
<ul><li>
Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and software systems - Canva, iMovie</li><li>
Performs administrative duties in collecting data and preparing and analyzing excel and written reports</li><li>
Performs administrative duties in organizing, scheduling, filing, typing and more.</li><li>
Orders materials and supplies related to programming</li><li>
Creates PowerPoints presentations</li><li>
Research topics for reports and other projects</li><li>
Edits reports and writes award applications</li><li>
Ability to prioritize tasks</li><li>
Assists with coordinating special projects and community events</li><li>
Promotes the library&rsquo;s programs, services, spaces, philosophy and initiatives</li><li>
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing</li><li>
Writes grants and award nominations</li><li>
Work to ensure division work is cross supported through all Programming work units (youth, adult, outreach, public relations) and aligned with the Library strategic plan</li><li>
Assists Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator with graphic design tasks, maintaining social media pages</li><li>
Assists with coordinating special projects and community events</li><li>
Promotes the library&rsquo;s programs, services, spaces, philosophy and initiatives</li><li>
Developing fliers, wrap up reports and other promotional materials</li><li>
Ability to lead and work in a team setting and prioritize tasks</li><li>
Participates in committees and attends training related to the job</li><li>
Attends outreach events, representing NPL to the community &amp; schools</li><li>
Supervises volunteers, interns and NEL&rsquo;s</li><li>
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs</li><li>
Develop training modules on necessary topics and conduct training sessions across the system</li><li>
Monitor and track budgets</li></ul></div><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Education/Experience</b></h2></div>
<div><p>Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.<br>

One year of experience in library or related services.<br>
<br>
<b>Additional Preferred Experience:</b></p><br>
<ul><li>
Experience with reports, program plans, curriculums and training modules.</li><li>
Experience with administrative tasks in an office setting.</li><li>
Graphic design experience.</li><li>
Knowledge of supervision.</li><li>
