Job Duties</b></p>
<p>
Position provides comprehensive case management services by ensuring all relevant classification paperwork is timely, accurate and complete. Ensures inmates are appropriately employed during their incarceration. The position focuses on adult inmate release planning and performing case management/counseling which includes classification. Promotes the development of self and staff through providing training. Acts as a role model by providing guidance/direction for inmates in a correctional facility, which enhances facility security and promotes long-term pro-social behaviors.</p>

Minimum Qualifications</b></p>

Experience in counseling, rehabilitation, or casework management. Experience facilitating rehabilitative programs. Experience preparing reports. Working knowledge of principles and practices of counseling, of casework and treatment methods, of behavior modification, various intervention techniques and inmate restoration rehabilitation. Demonstrated ability to counsel and interact with inmates to develop, implement, and follow through on treatment plans and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.</p>

Advance knowledge in Social Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice or other areas related to human services or equivalent combination of training and experience. Previous experience working in adult counseling or corrections. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel). The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class carry a caseload of inmates, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on inmate questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.

</b></p><p>Central Prison in Raleigh, NC has been in continuous service since 1884. It serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders. It also houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers.<br>

While security requires that certain offenders remain in their cells, there are more than 260 offender job assignments that include working in the kitchen, laundry or canteen. Offenders also work as barbers, janitors and clerks. Offenders can attend substance abuse group therapy meetings, Bible studies or worship services.

<div><p>As a Corrections Counselor 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting and rehabilitating inmates at SCI Dallas. Your work will include providing individual counseling and casework services, as well as assisting with employment opportunities and connecting inmates to community resources. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports for your assigned caseload and participating in parole planning to facilitate reentry into society. Your work will have a significant impact on the lives of inmates and their chances for successful rehabilitation and reintegration.<br>

<b>Work Schedule and Additional Information:</b></p><ul><li>
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week</li><li>
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.</li><li>
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.</li><li><b>

Salary:</b><i> </i>Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $55,436.00 (before taxes).</li><li>

Three years and six months as a corrections officer, and 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; <b>or</b></li><li>
A bachelor&rsquo;s degree including 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; <b>or</b></li><li>
An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.</li><li>
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.</li></ul><div></div><b><br>
Special Requirement:</b><ul><li>
You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.</li></ul><br>

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.</li><li>
