<div>As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will provide casework and counseling to inmates facing behavioral and adjustment challenges. You will conduct interviews to facilitate institutional integration, offer guidance on resolving personal and family conflicts, and provide the encouragement necessary to navigate the correctional environment. By identifying social, educational, and vocational needs, you will help inmates develop the skills required for a successful transition back into the community, including assistance with employment opportunities and local resource navigation. In addition, you will manage detailed clinical records by analyzing aptitude tests, compiling sociodemographic histories, and integrating psychological evaluations into cohesive case files. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, you will coordinate treatment objectives and programming to ensure that institutional resources are effectively used to support rehabilitation. Description of Work
This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class carry a caseload of inmates, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on inmate questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
 
 
Key Duties Include:
 
 
<ul><li>In addition to regular case management duties, each case manager will also assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, education, or recreation; substance abuse programs, community volunteers, offender library and special projects involving offender art show/writing contests, volunteer banquets, as well as transition planning and coordinating.
</li><li>Employees in this class plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
</li><li>Case managers may have mental health offenders on their caseload which requires additional time to manage.

Responsibilities - What you&rsquo;ll do
Maintains security in buildings/towers/other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders
Supervises movement of offenders inside/outside the correctional facility; conducts periodic counts of offenders; searches offenders and their living quarters for contraband; Escorts/transports offenders to predetermined locations
Supervises offenders: in housing units; during the performance of work activities; during recreational/ religious activities
Conducts inspections for health and safety hazards; prepares/submits reports on offender violations of divisional or correctional facility rules/unusual offender behaviors/observed mechanical deficiencies/ security breaches or failures
Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders; refers serious problems to proper correctional facility staff; promotes rehabilitation by attempting to modify offender&rsquo;s social attitudes/discouraging undesirable behaviors/encouraging worthwhile activities
Supervises visits with offenders; searches visitors/offenders/buildings/grounds for contraband
Performs work in accordance with established rules/regulations/post orders/specific instructions; receives general administrative direction
Performs other related work as assigned

Essential Functions:

</li></ul><ul><li>Provide direct aid and counseling to inmates with personal needs or problems, i.e., sickness, injury, family problems, and other related personal problems.

Description of Work
Reporting to the Correctional Programs Director I, this position will provide programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in the prison system. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
