</b></p>This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class carry a caseload of inmates, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on inmate questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.

Key Duties Include:

<ul><li>In addition to regular case management duties, each case manager will also assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, education, or recreation; substance abuse programs, community volunteers, offender library and special projects involving offender art show/writing contests, volunteer banquets, as well as transition planning and coordinating.
</li><li>Employees in this class plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
</li><li>Case managers may have mental health offenders on their caseload which requires additional time to manage.
</li><li>Case managers are also often required to interact with community organizations in their performance of duties.
</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
</b></p><p>Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408
</p><ul><li>Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of prisons.
</li><li>Documented knowledge of techniques of supporting counseling and interviewing.
</li><li>Documented knowledge of correctional programs.
</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Basic Purpose</b></p><p>

This is the career level where incumbents perform a full range of case management tasks involving the classification and assignment of offenders committed to a correctional institution. Incumbents at this level are responsible for overseeing difficult advanced classification and counseling cases.</p><p></p><p><br>

<b>Qualification:</b></div> <div>High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, one (1) year of which experience is at the lower level CSM Correctional Lieutenant (PSP195) or position equivalent; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level CSM Correctional Captain (PSM140) or position equivalent.</div>

<b>Qualification:</b></div> <div>One year of full-time experience in directing through subordinate managers, security activities and staff at a state correctional facility operated by the Georgia Department of Corrections. Or two years of full-time experience in directing through subordinate managers, security activities and staff in a correctional setting outside the Georgia Department of Corrections. Or completion of an undergraduate degree in criminal justice, one of the behavioral sciences (e.g. Counseling, psychology, sociology, etc.) or a related field at a four year college or university.</div>
