This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Northwest Reception Center in the Classification Department.
Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:
<ul><li>Dive into the details by verifying and manually calculating tentative release dates, ensuring they align with commitment papers and legal statutes. Resolve discrepancies by communicating with relevant agencies.</li>
<li>Lead the charge in preparing release documents, verifying final release dates, and ensuring all necessary authorizations and records are in perfect order for inmate release.</li>
<li>Ensure precision by maintaining accurate data entry in the inmate information system and play a key role in training new employees.</li>
<li>Take charge of managing daily inmate records, including updates on cell changes, work assignments, disciplinary reports, and sentence modifications.</li>
<li>Be at the forefront of justice by preparing affidavits, testifying in court, coordinating inter-state detainer actions, and supervising the transfer of inmate files, all while ensuring compliance with policies and standards.</li></ul>

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to research, develop, implement, and facilitate appropriate and effective training for all levels of staff in the Corrections Department. Meets and works with management and supervisors, both internal and external, to assess, identify and develop effective department training.</li><li>
Researches, evaluates, and recommends training programs and resources of public agencies, educational institutions, and private consultants.</li><li>
Facilitates training workshops to enhance the professional development of staff.</li><li>
Coordinates the research, development and implementation of curriculum including audio-visual, computer assisted and written training materials.</li><li>
Coordinate and assist with training required to achieve and maintain the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) accreditation for the Community Corrections Division.</li><li>
Designs curriculum content based on adult learning principles to include research, development, implementation, design documents, PowerPoint presentations, instructor guides, participant guides, training procedure manuals and guides, assessments and certification questions, course description and supplemental materials (tests, handouts, check sheets, fact sheets) using standard development processes and templates.</li><li>
Assists in the development and revision of policies and procedures.</li><li>
Acquires and maintains knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable for the delivery of both online and instructor-led learning programs to adult audiences.</li><li>

FCIC Agency Coordinator (FAC) ASSIGMENT 
<ul><li>
Acts as the Department&rsquo;s primary FCIC Agency Coordinator (FAC).</li><li>
Acts as liaison and point of contact with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and related organizations.</li><li>
Ensures agency compliance with Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements, policies, and procedures.</li><li>
Participates in records audits; provides related information, supporting documentation, statistics, and logs.</li><li>
Maintains confidentiality of information in the performance of duties.</li></ul></div>

Experience: Three (3) years&rsquo; experience as a Corrections professional. 
 
Licenses/Certifications:<ul><li>
Must possess and maintain Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Instructor Certifications, Firearms, Defensive Tactics and CPR/First Aid Certification or obtain the certifications as determined by the Division Manager.</li><li>

Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire is required.</li><li>
Possession of Adult First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications within six (6) months of hire, is required.</li></ul>
