 Court Services Officer Trainee Salary
 
 : The salary range for this position is $49,059.79 to $77,331.24 for Schedule A, and $49,059.79 to $73,464.67 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.
 
 
 
 Court Services Officer 1 Salary:
 
 The salary range for this position is $52,593.71 to $86,166.03 for Schedule A, and $52,593.71 to $81,857.73 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A.  The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a highly organized, motivated, detail-oriented, analytical self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills to join the Supreme Court Clerk&rsquo;s Office, under the direction of Counsel to the New Jersey Supreme Court Boards on Attorney Certification and Continuing Legal Education to perform, among other things, case management functions related to attorney certification applications, CLE provider applications and attorney CLE compliance reports and audits.

 The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
 
 
 
 Example of Duties

 Review and analyze incoming documents submitted in hard copy and electronically, identifying and resolving deficiencies and monitoring statuses
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide administrative support to the Boards and the Certification Committees
 </li>
 <li>
 Review and provide guidance on submissions and inquiries related to attorney certification and continuing legal education, and annual attorney registration
 </li>
 <li>
 Process and monitor the flow of approved attorney certification and recertification applications, and CLE provider applications (case processing), analyzing filings/documents presented and determining and resolving deficiencies, making preliminary recommendations to legal staff regarding sufficiency of application based on an analysis in accordance with Board Regulations and Court rules
 </li>
 <li>
 Respond to and resolve email and telephone inquiries from attorneys, judges, CLE providers, and other stakeholders, identifying issues, explaining/advising regarding Court rules, Board regulations, policies and procedures for CLE, BAC, attorney registration, and attorney compliance, and other judiciary policies and procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in drafting appropriate notices and Court Orders
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist with CLE compliance and audits
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare statistical, financial, and narrative reports for use by management, the Boards and Certification Committees, and the Court

 Minimum Qualifications for a

 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
 
 
 
 Substitution:
 
 Current New Jersey Judiciary employees who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience in case management involving gathering and analyzing case-related information which shall have included the exercise of judgment and discretion, and one or more of the following: reviewing cases to identify case management and discovery needs, coordinating with judges and attorneys to resolve case issues, and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. This experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester-hour credits. An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience as described above

 Minimum Qualifications For a Court Services Officer 1
 
 
 
 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor&rsquo;s degree and one year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing and verifying case-related information which shall have included one or more of the following: conducting investigations, monitoring casework flow, interviewing clients or customers for needed information, preparing investigative fact-finding reports and/or writing case notes or other case-related correspondence.
 
 
 Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor&rsquo;s degree.

 Physical Ability:
 
 For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching to perform the essential duties of the position. For some positions, the selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds, in order to perform essential duties of the position.
 
 
 
 Driver's License:
 
 Appointees will be required to possess a driver&rsquo;s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
 
 
 
 Authorization to Work:
 
 US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

 Residency Law:
 
 In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor &amp; Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.

Job Duties: This CSO I position is assigned to the Adult Court Services Department, primarily writing presentence reports.
 
 
This position requires knowledge of the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines. This Officer will be responsible for completing thorough in-depth presentence investigation reports assigned through the District Court. This will include reading KBI/REJIS/NCIC reports and requesting criminal records from other jurisdictions to determine a defendant&rsquo;s criminal history. Duties include interviewing defendants and victims and making recommendations for probation requirements based on the information gained from those interviews. This position will require the completion of LSCMI, WRNA, and SASSI certification (within 1 year) to determine probation placement and SB 123 eligibility. Maintaining a close working relationship with district attorneys, defense attorneys and judges of the District Court is required. This Officer will need to have strong organizational skills, be able to communicate effectively, time management skills, and the ability to work well with others in a team setting.
 
 
Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, or a closely related field.
