We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical procedures, and administrative support within diverse clinical settings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient services across outpatient clinics, hospital environments, and specialized units such as dermatology, emergency medicine, or geriatrics. Duties</div><ul><li>
Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.</li><li>
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with precision.</li><li>
Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments to uphold strict infection control standards.</li><li>
Support physicians and nurses during procedures, including medication administration and basic life support when necessary.</li><li>
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information and ICD coding for diagnoses.</li><li>
Assist with diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging or other outpatient testing under supervision.</li><li>
Coordinate patient flow within the clinic or hospital setting, ensuring timely appointments and follow-up care.</li><li>
Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and demonstrating empathy throughout the care process.</li></ul><div></div><div> 
Candidate Requirements:</div><div>
To be considered for this role, you must meet one of the following criteria:</div><ul><li>
Medical Assistant Certification: Current CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA.</li><li>
PCT Certification: Current Patient Care Technician certification (CPCT/A).</li><li>
Experience: At least one year of verifiable experience working specifically as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or outpatient setting.</li></ul>

Qualifications:<ul><li>
Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.</li><li>
Experience: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCT position per state guidelines.</li><li>
Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.</li><li>
Other: Minimum Physical Requirements- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.</li><li>

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated tasks in alignment with the PCT's training and the department's needs. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (LVN at Texas facilities), the PCT supports patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and organized care environment, and ensuring effective communication within the healthcare team. 
 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Assists nursing staff in delivering care, performing delegated basic patient care services, and ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized environment.</li>
<li>Collects and records patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, oxygen saturation, intake/output, and calorie counts, reporting findings to the RN/LPN/LVN.</li>
<li>Supports patients with meals, feeding, bathing, oral care, grooming, linen changes, skin care, elimination assistance, and urinary catheter care.</li>
<li>Assists with patient positioning, repositioning, dangling, ambulating, and using mobility aids such as walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.</li>
<li>Collects urine and stool samples and performs blood glucose monitoring via finger sticks, documenting and reporting results to the RN/LPN/LVN.</li>
<li>Communicates patient information effectively to the care team, adapts to change, and maintains professionalism in all interactions.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li>
<li>Participates in performance improvement initiatives, risk management reporting, and compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures.</li>
<li>May be required to maintain continuous visual observation of the patient and remains with them at all times unless relieved by appropriate personnel.</li><li>
