The Critical Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients&rsquo; activities of daily living and supports the overall plan of care. This role involves direct communication with and support for the healthcare team, patients, and their families or significant others. Overview:

The Clinical Decision Unit is on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a locked unit and require a badge to enter or ring the doorbell to be let in. The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available.
</div><div>Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday &ndash; Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities.
</div><div>The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available.</div><div>
Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring.</div>

Additionally, under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the patient care associate III performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
