<b>Overview:</b><br>
<b>POSITION PURPOSE:</b><br>
Plans and provides for appropriate classroom learning experiences for students in the following courses: Business Essentials, Entrepreneurship I, Entrepreneurship II, and CTE Advanced Studies. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Responsible for supervising students in a variety of school related settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and communicating/interacting with students, parents, staff and the community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Additionally, is responsible for maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures and practices, as well as monitoring the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

1. Serves as an Adviser/co-Adviser for the school's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America/DECA.

3. Ensures effective communication techniques with students, parents, and all other stakeholders are being used.

<br><br>
5. Uses appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance critical and creative thinking capabilities of students.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a classroom environment and requires sitting and standing throughout the day. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to but not limited to 25 pounds.

</p></div><p></p><div><p>Under the direction of the principal, the <b>Architectural Design and Drafting Teacher </b>provides technical, project-based instruction that prepares high school students for post-secondary education and careers in architecture, interior design, construction management, and related design fields. The teacher delivers instruction in architectural design principles, manual drafting, AutoCAD, Revit, Building Information Modeling, construction documentation, building systems, codes, sustainability, and professional presentation practices.
</p></div><div><p>The instructor guides students through the complete design process, from research, conceptual design, and spatial planning to drafting, modeling, construction documents, estimating, scheduling, project planning, and portfolio development. Through both traditional drafting and digital design technologies, students develop spatial reasoning, visualization, technical accuracy, problem-solving, and design communication skills.

</p></div><div><p>Actual placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Howard County Public School System and the HCEA Master Agreement which considers relevant prior experience. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.<br>

</b></p></div><div><p>Membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) pension plan is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in the State Personnel and Pensions Article and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). A qualifying employee cannot reject membership, nor can an ineligible employee elect membership. The annual contribution to the pension plan will be 7% of an employee&rsquo;s annual salary.<br>
