Consider joining Olive-Harvey College as a Full-Time Janitor- Projects. Olive-Harvey College is looking for hardworking, dedicated janitor to perform janitorial work in and around the buildings. A successful janitor candidate will be responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, and presentation of the campus facilities on our evening shift. The successful candidate will contribute to facility maintenance, will help to create a positive, welcoming environment, and will have a strong customer service focus, for students, faculty and staff. Primary Objective: Perform variety types of cleaning tasks in addition to all traditional janitorial work in and around the buildings.
DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Cleaning tasks include:<ul><li>
A. Cleanup in connection with construction, painting and repair.</li><li>
B. Heavy trash removal.</li><li>
C. Removal of old carpeting.</li><li>
D. High level work twelve feet and over from floor level.</li><li>
E. Removal of tile affixed to floor.</li><li>
F. Moving and storing of construction material and equipment.</li><li>
G. Loading and unloading of trucks.</li><li>
H. Operation of floor scrubbers.</li><li>
I. Stripping and refinishing of the floors.</li><li>
J. Operation of carpet scrubbers &amp; extraction equipment.</li><li>
K. Shampooing &amp; extraction of carpets and upholstery.</li><li>
L. Furniture crating and uncrating.</li><li>
M. Snow removal.</li></ul></li><li>
Dust all ledges, counter tops, files, office equipment, desk and walls.</li><li>
Dust mop all hard surfaces.</li><li>
Spot cleaning or complete washing of all walls, files, desk tops, office glass, partitions, doors, chairs, blackboards, mirrors, waste baskets and garbage cans, office machines and ash trays.</li><li>
Thorough cleaning of all bathroom fixtures and partitions.</li><li>
Polishing furniture.</li><li>
Metal polishing.</li><li>
Hosing and sweeping of sidewalks.</li><li>
Trash removal.</li><li>
Dismantling and cleaning of light fixtures.</li><li>
Operation of vacuum cleaners.</li><li>
Cleaning of Venetian blinds (washing &amp; vacuuming).</li><li>
Policing of facility and grounds (inside &amp; outside).</li><li>
Washing of exterior walls.</li><li>
Scraping of gum and other objects form hard surfaces and carpet.</li><li>
Spot cleaning furniture or carpet, but not more than 2 hours per day.</li><li>
Setting up and /or take down of chairs and tables.</li><li>
Wet mopping or spot mopping public corridors, washrooms, classrooms and any hard surfaces.</li><li>
Operation of compactors and /or balers.</li><li>
Maintenance of outside ground (raking, grass cutting, watering, garbage, etc.)</li><li>
Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 
QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent preferred.</li><li>
Preference will be given to current temporary janitors at City Colleges of Chicago.</li><li>
Must be able to perform all duties listed above.</li></ul> 
Shift: Tuesday- Friday 6:00a.m.-2:30p Sat 7:00a.m.-3:30p 
 
Rate: $22.66 /hour 
 
This position is represented by the Maintenance &ndash; SEIU Local 73 union.
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.

The Field Museum Housekeeping Team plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and beauty of our historic building for visitors and staff. The housekeeping team is responsible for ensuring consistently clean, well-maintained areas within the public and administrative areas of the museum.
Duties and Responsibilities

</li><li>Damp wiping
</li><li>Sanitizing bathroom fixtures
</li><li>Mopping floors
</li><li>Special project work as assigned
</li></ul>Qualifications
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred
</li><li>Previous housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred, but not required
</li><li>Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
</li><li>Ability to stand and walk for long periods
</li><li>Ability to bend and reach
</li><li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
</li><li>Ability and experience using various tools, products, and equipment
</li><li>Ability to work independently and on a team
</li><li>Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in public and staff areas
</li></ul>Working Conditions:
Indoor setting; work is performed after hours within a museum environment, including exhibit halls, office areas, and other support spaces. Position requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Work may involve exposure to dusty environments while using cleaning equipment and products.
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision from the 2nd shift manager and the 2nd shift supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Hours and Shift:
40 hours per week; 2nd shift: 3:00 PM &ndash; 11:30 PM
