 We are seeking a Database Engineer to support the ESCAPE program and broader enterprise data initiatives. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems that support analytics, reporting, legacy system migration, and cloud-based operational data environments.
 
 
 Key Responsibilities
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Design, develop, and maintain relational SQL databases, including SQL Server
 </li>
 <li>
 Build and support data pipelines and integration workflows using tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks
 </li>
 <li>
 Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and storage management
 </li>
 <li>
 Support migration of legacy USAF systems into a cloud-based operational data store
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practices
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and data governance requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with software engineers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to support data access and integration
 </li>

 Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
 </li>
 <li>
 Automate routine database tasks using Python or PowerShell
 </li>
 <li>
 Document database processes and provide technical support, health checks, and operational reviews

 Qualifications
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 5+ years of experience in database engineering or database administration
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Teradata
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Google Cloud SQL
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and schema design
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with data pipelines, ETL, and system migration efforts
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments and tools such as Jira
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience supporting Air Force or DoD programs is preferred
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of DoD data security and compliance standards is a plus
 </li>
 <li>
 Certifications in database or cloud technologies are a plus
 </li>
 <li>
 DoD 8140 qualifications or related certifications such as Security+ or CSSLP are preferred

Workdays &amp; Hours: FLSA Exempt position. Monday &ndash; Friday 8am &ndash; 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Partial telecommuting options will be available with a minimum of 2-days in-office attendance required each week. A Database Administrator position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions' Database Design &amp; Support division. This position will predominantly assist with the support of the approximately 80 SQL Servers and 1700+ databases that are used throughout the City of Fort Worth. The Database (DBA) team maintains and supports over 400 applications, ranging from in-house developed applications (.Net) to cloud-hosted solutions. Many of the applications exchange information through interfaces and/or API developed programs. These interfaces are primarily supported by the DBA Team. In this position you will have the ability to support databases that provide solutions that can change the way the City conducts business. You will be performing day-to-day support for numerous systems/applications, while also working on many enterprise projects that have been approved.

We are constantly bringing new technology to the City of Fort Worth to streamline business processes, improve government transparency and make services more readily available to our citizens. Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field</li>
<li>Five (5) years of responsible experience in information system technical support work such as operating systems, database administration, or related fields</li>
<li>Valid Driver's License</li>

Preferred Qualifications:

<li>Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)</li>

<li>Three (3) years of experience with SP Blitz (Brent Ozar tools)</li>

The Database Administrator's job responsibilities include:
