Overall Summary:
The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) performs a variety of dental assisting duties while promoting a safe and clean environment for quality dental care. These duties include but are not limited to assisting the doctor and teaching patients how to care for their teeth.
Essential Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Under the general direction of the Clinic Manager, the Registered Dental Assistant performs a variety of complex, professional, analytical, and confidential Dental services. Duties include:</li><li>
Digital dental radiographs (x-rays) and dental photographs</li><li>
Assists the dentist during a variety of examinations and treatment procedures: instrument transfer, dental procedure isolation techniques, and preparation of dental materials</li><li>
Prepares treatment rooms, instruments, and cassettes for procedures</li><li>
Records medical, dental history, vital signs, and visit information in the electronic patient record (QSI)</li><li>
Pours, trims, and polishes study casts; fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions; cleans and polishes removable appliances; and fabricates temporary restorations</li><li>
Serves as an infection control officer, follows infection control protocols, and sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment</li><li>
Assists patients with referrals and follow-up appointments</li><li>
Takes impressions of patients&rsquo; teeth for study casts (models of teeth)</li></ul>
Secondary Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li><li>
Assume general administrative duties including faxing, filing, copying, etc.</li><li>
Attend webinars, workshops, training, and/or meetings as requested by the Clinic Manager.</li><li>
Perform special project research and data collection activities as requested by the Clinic Manager; analyze and interpret data, and prepare reports.</li><li>
Coordinate special staff events and prepare and distribute promotional flyers for such events.</li></ul>
Requirements:

Qualifications:<ul><li>
Required: CA RDA License, Coronal Polishing License, Sealant License</li><li>
High School Diploma or equivalent required</li><li>
X-ray license required</li><li>
Minimum of two years of experience as a DA preferred</li><li>
Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Farsi, Vietnamese, Mandarin)</li><li>
Community or public health experience preferred</li><li>
CPR training</li><li>
Work Conditions:</li><li>
Travel locally to visit other sites; may require a day or overnight trip to attend events. Workload may be demanding at times and requires professionalism and confidentiality.</li><li>

This position requires:</li><li>
Sitting, walking, and standing associated with a normal medical, clinical, and administrative office environment, with some bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.</li><li>

Ensure that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines and standards.</li><li>Monitor and maintain dental equipment, system, radiographic developing equipment, sterilizer, and light curing units, in accordance with manufacturers&rsquo; guidelines.</li><li>Develop and process dental radiograph in accordance with guidelines, assists in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.</li><li>Follow and maintain all relevant UAE regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental clinical services.</li><li>Order and maintain inventories of dental clinic supplies.</li><li>Maintains dental laboratory result and create and maintains dental records in accordance with established procedures.</li><li>Collect and record patient health histories.</li><li>Patient management during dental procedures includes receiving patients for treatment, positioning chair and placing napkin.</li><li>Manage and document Dental Instrument transfer (inter-branch).</li><li>Identify intra oral dentistry.</li><li>Assist with basic restorative, periodontal, endodontic and surgical extraction procedures using the concept of four handed dentistry.</li><li>Maintain a field of operation during dental procedures through the use of retraction, suction, irrigation, drying, placing and removing of cotton wool balls etc.</li><li>Prepare dental materials, cements, composite, and impression materials.</li><li>Demonstrate an understanding of disease control and prevention guidelines.</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of ethics/jurisprudence and patient confidentiality.</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge and practice of basic life support techniques and principles.</li><li>Apply effective communication techniques with a variety of patients and provide patients with preventative and oral hygiene instruction.</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge and practice of Prevention and management of dental medical emergencies.</li><li>Update dental ICD codes and data on the computer system as well as DHA website.</li><li>Carry out any ad hoc tasks required by the Medical Director/Dentist/Clinic Manager.</li><li>Maintain a professional and responsible approach to all duties.</li><li>Work cooperatively with other Clinic staff in a positive team approach.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-time
