Purpose of Job:
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing dental care to patients as follows:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Performs diagnostic, surgical, restorative and various preventative services.</li><li>
Understands and follows infection control procedures.</li><li>
Reviews medical histories at each visit.</li><li>
Consults with patient's health care provider or another clinic provider as needed.</li><li>
Diagnoses dental disease, oral pathology, and develop a written treatment plan and prioritizes treatments.</li><li>
Explains the course of treatment with patient, and solicit his/her input and agreement.</li><li>
Balances treatment plan on patient needs and desires in conjunction with patient and clinic resources.</li><li>
Ensures all prescriptions and advice regarding medications is in accordance with accepted community standards and NEWHPs protocols.</li><li>
Recommends dental equipment changes and additions.</li><li>
Participates in the development and implementation of provider productivity standards.</li><li>
Attends staff meetings and in-service training.</li><li>
Represents NEWHP at conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs.</li><li>
Act as a preceptor for dental assisting students, dental hygiene students, and dental students as requested</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li><li>

Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Completion of ADA accredited dental program required. Valid dentist license in the
state of Washington required upon hire. Previous experience working with under -served populations desired. Certification through The Drug Enforcement Agency required.
Skills: Must be able to secure credentialing through identified agencies (Medicaid, etc.). Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills required. BLS certification required.
Physical Demands:
Dentists are required to stand under 1/3rd of the day; while sitting, and being mobile are required 1/3rd to 2/3rd of the time. They are required to use hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3rd of the time, as well as reach with hands and arms. Climbing, balancing, kneeling or crouching occurs less than 1/3rd of the time. Communicating by talking/ hearing occurs over 2/3rd of the day. Smelling occurs between 1/3rd and 2/3rd of the day. Excellent vision (with or without correction) and hand-eye coordination required. Amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 30% for up to 10lbs. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 11lbs.

Position Overview

<li>Conduct Comprehensive Patient Health Assessments: Conduct patient health assessments to include patients' height, weight, blood pressure, medical problems, allergies, reactions, and prescribed medications.</li>
<li>Diagnose Intraoral &amp; Extra-Oral Conditions: Diagnose patients' intraoral and extra-oral conditions including existing caries, endodontic pathology, periodontal condition, prosthetic needs, and any soft tissue abnormalities.</li>
<li>Develop and Execute Treatment Plans: Treatment plan necessary work for patients, ensuring they receive the required dental care tailored to their specific needs.</li>
<li>Provide Routine Dental Treatments: Provide the necessary routine dental treatment for patients under your care, including amalgam restorations, aesthetic composite restorations, routine root canal therapy, routine extractions, prophylaxis, periodontal scaling and root planning, and pedodontic care.</li>
<li>Supervise Dental Assistants: Exercise direct supervision of the assigned/designated dental assistants, ensuring efficient and effective team performance.</li>
<li>Offer Professional Consultation: Provide professional consultation to other staff dentists when needed, supporting their practice and patient care.</li>
<li>Participate in Dental Provider Meetings: Attend dental provider meetings and participate in case study discussions, contributing to collaborative learning and patient care improvement.</li>
<li>Adapt and Excel in Diverse Assignments: Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director/Practice Manager, showcasing your adaptability and commitment to delivering high-quality dental care across all aspects of service.</li>
