</b></p><ul><li><p>The Assistant Clinician is responsible for working directly with the residential or day habilitation staff under the supervision and direction of the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS), Manager and Coordinator.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible for working with the team to look at each person supported in a wholistic manner. This includes looking at the person&rsquo;s strengths, preferences and needs in order to ensure these are identified and met.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician will work with the BIS and the team to identify the behavioral, psychiatric, social, vocational, health, nutritional and mobility needs etc. of each person and bring these to the attention of the team.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician will assist the BIS, RN or Manager/Coordinator to conduct assessments and observations.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician will develop goals/outcomes, identified in the Comprehensive Functional Assessment (CFA) or Life Plan that meet the interests and needs of the person supported. This includes reviewing data for accurate and consistent implementation, ensuring accuracy of daily and monthly progress reports and making revisions, when needed.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician will work with the interdisciplinary team to design effective data collection systems that allow progress to be monitored and measured.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician supports the program in ensuring that all programming is implemented consistently and in accordance with the agency policy.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician assists the IDT to monitor the completion of all habilitation related paperwork required for the people we support and ensure reports are shared with appropriate service providers.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician works with the BIS and RN to ensure interventions receive the proper approval prior to implementation prior to implementation (informed consent, human rights), if required.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician helps develop group curricula and ensures the implementation of individual and group programming.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician assists with staff training to ensure that all clinical interventions are understood by staff, properly and consistently implemented, to communicate clinical rationales to the staff, to provide staff with both formal and informal feedback, role model appropriate interactions and provide guidance/leadership to staff when implementing programming.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible for facilitating case conferences (CFA/life plan meetings) and to function as a member of the interdisciplinary team. This includes collecting and synthesizing all reports into the CFA or case conference minutes. The Assistant Clinician in conjunction with the IDT reviews the CFA/ life plan, develops a staff action plan and trains staff on goals/outcomes and supports.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician must participate in weekly IDT meetings.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is encouraged to function as a resource to other programs when needed and to serve on various committees such as the Human Rights Committee, Informed Consent Committee, Incident Review Committee, etc.)</p></li><li><p>
In addition to facilitating team meetings within assigned programs, the Assistant Clinician is responsible for attending the team meeting held on behalf of the people supported by other service providers.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician supports the team when working with families, and members of the community as well as all team meetings, and team building efforts.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible for providing useful clinical information to staff working directly with individuals and to maintain accepted standards of confidentiality.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible for assisting the IDT to initiate appropriate referrals for necessary consultations and evaluations.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician supports the IDT to ensure that individuals receive appropriate mental and physical health care and acts as a resource to the residential/day habilitative team.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible to facilitate the coordination of individual treatment between the residence and the day hab. The Assistant Clinician should visit individuals at their day/vocational program and attend case conferences and other special IDT meetings as dictated by each person&rsquo;s needs.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible to ensure that all habilitation records are maintained in accordance with OPWDD and BIRCH policy under the direction of the IDT, QA staff, Psychology Coordinator and Nurse Administrator.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician should bring to the attention of the IDT both programmatic and individual clinical issues and be solution-oriented in their resolution.</p></li><li><p>
It is the Assistant Clinician&rsquo;s responsibility to meet with his/her supervisors on a regular basis including the Residential Manager/Coordinator, BIS and RN. They are responsible to come to supervision prepared with an agenda, approach clinical and programmatic issues in a solution-oriented manner, and to follow up on tasks delegated during the supervision process in a timely manner.</p></li><li><p>
The Assistant Clinician is responsible to function in a direct service professional capacity.</p></li><li><p>

Education

Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or related Human Services field<br>
<br>
<b>Skills and/or Experience Required</b><br>
Minimum of 3 years&rsquo; experience working in OPWDD related field and preferably experience in a residential, health or treatment related setting preferred.<br>
Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to document records in accordance with program standards.<br>
Should have the ability to work a flexible schedule if needed to accommodate working with the individuals in the residence and to attend team meetings.</p></div>

</b></p><p>The Clinician will provide treatment to eligible U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employees and their families who have mental health needs and/or mental illness. They will be proficient in stress management and resilience-building interventions, understanding of occupational stress unique to law enforcement, veterans and their families and familiarity with evidence-based approaches for trauma and family systems. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

</b></p><p><b>EDUCATION</b>: Equivalent to a Master&rsquo;s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
</p><p><b>EXPERIENCE:</b> 2 years of professional experience working in mental health counseling, psychotherapy, and/or related social services in a public, certified private welfare, or health agency preferred. Experience working with adults, couples, and families is required; Knowledge in DSM-5-TR (or latest DSM edition available) diagnoses to include PTSD diagnosis and treatment is required; ability to obtain certification or documented proficiency in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing within 6 months of employment. Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certificate of completion within 1 month of employment. Experience working with diverse populations, military populations and/or Veterans is a plus.

<div><div><b>LOCATION:</b> Remote &ndash; this is a home based, virtual position. The person in this position must reside in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the NC border.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Work Schedule:</b> Sunday &ndash; Wednesday 10am-9pm. This is a 40 hour per week position. Due to the nature of the Call Center and the Behavioral Health Crisis line, the job may require some holiday work throughout the year.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB</b></div><div>
This position is within the Member and Recipient Services Department at Vaya Health. The Member and Recipient Services Clinician is responsible for providing an array of functions to assist consumers in receiving clinically appropriate assessments and services. Telephone calls come to the unit via a 1-800 number from members, recipients, families, agencies, organizations, professionals and others within Vaya&rsquo;s catchment area. The Behavioral Health Crisis service line operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year and the employee is subject to working holidays and holiday rotation as deemed necessary by the business.</div><div></div><div><br>
The primary purpose of the position is to provide telephone screening and triage for callers and families who are seeking mental health, substance abuse, or developmental disability services. The unit assesses the nature of the caller&rsquo;s situation, determines the urgency of the caller&rsquo;s need, and makes a referral to the most appropriate service available based on the caller&rsquo;s location and insurance plan.</div><div></div><div><br>
Duties include linking callers to needed services within clinically appropriate time frames, including telephonic clinical triage and referral which includes a determination of need for urgent or emergent services. In addition to providing clinical support the position will also directly handle any telephonic requests for services at times of heavy call volume.</div><div></div><div><br>
The employee works productively and efficiently with a wide variety of consumers, families, agencies, professionals, law enforcement and others in the community. Callers may be in distress or in emergency or crisis situations requiring speedy assessment and intervention. Some callers are at risk to harm themselves or others and this risk must be accurately assessed. The high volume of calls requires the employee to balance the need to do a careful and accurate telephone assessment of the consumer&rsquo;s need and situation, with the need to be efficient in the use of time to complete the screening and triage interaction. The employee develops and maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately assess and refer consumers from all disability areas, and also maintains a good working knowledge of resources available throughout Vaya&rsquo;s entire catchment area.</div><div></div><div><br>

Handle telephonic requests for services, respond to member and recipient calls, and provide requested information:</b></div><div>
Member and Recipient Svcs Clinician perform clinical screening, triage and referral to callers needing services, answer and provide disposition to service request calls at times of heavy call volume, and handle crisis calls in the Member and Recipient Services Call Center. Member and Recipient Svcs Clinicians triage calls for urgency and facilitate access to crisis services when risk indicators are present. Where safety is at risk, the employee initiates immediate intervention via law enforcement or emergency medical assistance. Member and Recipient Svcs Clinicians will provide information and educate callers about the involuntary commitment process, as appropriate based on assessment of risk.</div><div></div><div><br>
The employee provides brief crisis interventions and/or support when indicated to facilitate the assessment process, encourages compliance, addresses safety issues, etc. Clinical functions are performed by the Member and Recipient Services Clinicians.</div><div></div><div><br>
Member &amp; Recipient Svcs Clinician will inquire about the caller&rsquo;s needs, determine clinical urgency, review and confirm member and recipient eligibility, collect necessary demographic information, offer choice of available providers based upon the consumers request and service needs, and schedule appointments within established access time standards.</div><div></div><div><br>
The Member &amp; Recipient Svcs Clinician will inform a Member Services Manager and/or appropriate Network Development staff of gaps and needs associated with trends that are detected within the services system for timely analysis and resolution.</div><div></div><div><br>
For information calls, this position will provide information about Vaya, the Vaya provider network, community resources, and about Medicaid services in the State of NC. Member &amp; Recipient Svcs Clinician shall receive extensive training on customer services skills such as the use of appropriate tone, cadence, inflection, and choice of recovery oriented and/or person-centered wording. All Member and Recipient Services Representatives must adhere to NCMT Call Grading Rubric provided by NCDHHS.</div><div></div><div><br>
This position requires a high degree of communication skills and professionalism with various parties- members, recipients, providers, vendors, community organizations, legal guardians, and more. The Member and Recipient Svcs Clinician will complete warm transfers and linkages to a variety of different parties to assist the caller with correct linkage.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Documentation in the electronic information system:</b></div><div>
The Member &amp; Recipient Svcs Clinician completes call notes, forms, reports and other documentation as required. The Member and Recipient Services Clinician will complete required documentation at the time of call. This position requires a high degree of technical skills with utilization of multiple systems/logins throughout a phone call.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Specialized projects and reviews:</b></div><div>
The Member &amp; Recipient Svcs Clinician will assist in specialized Member Services Departmental projects as requested by the Member and Recipient Services Managers or Directors, and/or the Vice President of Member and Recipient Services.</div><div></div><div><b><br>

Knowledge of databases and data entry is essential. A degree alone does not prepare an applicant for this position. Experience providing mental health, substance abuse, or intellectual/ developmental disabilities services are essential. This employee should have knowledge of individual and group dynamics, and will learn de-escalation of telephonic situations, and a thorough knowledge risk indicators. Considerable knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community is beneficial. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies that govern MCO operations is beneficial. Skill in establishing rapport with staff/consumers in discussing their issues in a sensitive, supportive and nonjudgmental way is necessary. Master&rsquo;s degree in a Human Services field (such as Psychology, Social Work, etc.) and at least two (2) years of post-degree-progressive experience providing services in the population served <b><i>OR</i></b> graduation from a State accredited school of nursing and two years of experience in psychiatric nursing which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</div><div></div><div><br>
Must possess a current and valid professional license or certificate in North Carolina; or possess a current and valid license or certificate from another state or be certified by the national accrediting body appropriate to their profession. (URAC HCC 5)</div><div></div><div><br>
Experience in the public mental health field and a thorough understanding of the services available in the catchment area is highly desired due to the complexity of the work of the organization. Prior experience in a Call Center environment in Behavioral Healthcare would be valuable for this employee.</div><div></div><div><br>

Licensure/Certification Required:</b></div><div>

Job Summary:</b> Reporting to the Manager of Admissions, the Admissions Clinician provides clinical review of cases referred for admission to the inpatient behavioral health units, clinical acceptance of admissions and coordinates the admission process for accepted patients. Communicates with referring agencies and hospitals. Identifies cases in need of medical review and works closely with the Doctor on Call to obtain that review. Provides triage and assessment of walk-in patients to an appropriate setting for further assessment. <b>Primary Responsibilities:</b> Clinically reviews the electronic medical record or clinical referral paperwork received for referrals from other hospitals and other referral sources to identify patients appropriate for admission to one of the inpatient behavioral health units. Reviews cases as needed with a manager, senior leadership, or the administrator on call. Identifies cases in need of medical review and facilitates review by the Doctor on Call. Ensures that the electronic admissions board is complete and maintained/updated throughout each shift, as needed. Ensures that every effort is made to obtain insurance verification and pre-authorization prior to admission for each patient. Maintains effective communication with referral sources Provides brief assessment of &ldquo;walk-in&rdquo; patients who arrive to the hospital to determine if the patient can safely be referred to a Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) or if they require transportation via Section 12. Support and implement administrative decisions. Provides resource information for follow-up to patients who are unexpectedly discharged from the Admissions Department, following an evaluation by the provider in the Admissions Department. Solidly understands and follows the expectations and guidelines of regulatory agencies such as DMH, DPH, Joint Commission, payors, etc.<br>
 <b>Education, Experience, &amp; Licensing Requirements:</b></p>

<li>Master&rsquo;s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, counseling, clinical mental health counseling, education (counseling), marriage and family therapy or other related field required</li>
<li>Prior experience in a behavioral health setting preferred</li>
</ul>

<li>Clinical knowledge of behavioral health diagnoses and conditions</li>
