The Deputy General Counsel for Litigation &amp; Policy will drive strategy and execution to navigate the significant legal and policy challenges faced by a rapidly growing nationwide immigration practice. Your Key Contributions</b></p><ul><li>
Manage all aspects of litigation and disputes on behalf of the firm, including privacy, ethics, employment, procurement, real estate, technology, and security; collaborate with outside counsel on strategy and execution.</li><li>

<div><p><b>ABOUT THE ORLEANS PARISH DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (OPDA):</b></p><p>
Jason Rogers Williams took office as the Orleans Parish District Attorney on January 11, 2021, and is building a 21st century prosecutors' office with a team of the best and brightest from around the country and a mission of being as smart on crime as the office has historically been tough on crime. New Orleans has led the world in convictions and incarceration for decades, without any corresponding decrease in crime. OPDA is simultaneously increasing safety and delivering justice with a laser focus on serious offenses and a belief that every New Orleanian deserves the presumption of innocence.</p><p><b>
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:</b></p><p>
The OPDA Trials division represents the State of Louisiana in criminal proceedings in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court. The Chief of the Trials Division is an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) who supervises the prosecution, including the trials, of these cases, ensuring that dockets are managed accurately and advising team members on strategic approaches to their cases and proposals for case resolutions. The Chief also acts as a liaison between OPDA staff, the Court, New Orleans Police Department, and other law enforcement and governmental entities.</p><p>
The Deputy Chief's primary responsibilities include:</p>
Review all non-homicide and sex offense RRM for approval/denial. They must make sure to upload the approval email and reduction request memorandum to the network folder.<br>

The Deputy Chief is responsible for all administrative functions within the Division, including: maintaining data and reports; enacting, updating, and enforcing OPDA and Division-specific policies; engaging OPDA leadership on personnel assignments and conducting staff evaluations; and training employees and ensuring professional development on an ongoing basis. The Chief may also be tasked with representing OPDA at meetings and events.</p><p>

The Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel manages the work of Attorney Supervisors, attorneys, ranging from the Attorney to Attorney V classifications, investigators, analysts, and legal secretaries. Under the direction of the Chief Counsel and in coordination with other Assistant Chief Counsels, the Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel oversees the office&rsquo;s representation and legal advice to the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), the Department, and division chiefs and managers in a variety of subject areas within the responsibility and jurisdiction of the Department, which are broadly in the labor and employment area.<br>

<div>The Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel is responsible for ensuring that the unit attorneys provide the best representation to the Director of DIR in special types of workers&rsquo; compensation cases involving trust funds administered by the Director (SIBTF, UEBTF and DWD). In addition, the Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel leads one or more of the unit&rsquo;s practice teams, such as the unit&rsquo;s SPB appeals and internal labor and employment team; the hearing officer team; or the contracts review and advice team, among others. The Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel must also ensure that unit attorneys provide prompt and accurate legal advice to Department executives and division chiefs with respect to issues involving public works, prevailing wages, Public Records Act, public contracting, privacy, litigation, and other matters concerning a wide variety of legal issues that may arise in the operation of the Department. The Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel plans, directs, and reviews the work performed by legal staff who advise and represent the Department and its executive leadership. In the absence of the Chief Counsel the individual may assume the role of the chief legal counsel to the Department and its executive leadership.
