</p><p><b>A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DEPUTY COURT CLERK</b></p>
<p>
As a Deputy Court Clerk, you spend your day responding to customers regarding legal options to satisfy cases, including fines, trials or hearings, driver's safety, deferred dispositions, warrants, extensions, and posting of bonds. Your work typically involves updating case files in the Court's case management system as contact is made with customers, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and others. Prepare and processes traffic and parking citations filed by the Edinburg Police Department and other agencies. Your job is essential to the city, you monitor cases for compliance, process cases in accordance with legal requirements, and prepare documentation for the judge and prosecutor. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include administrating oaths and prepares complaints, summons and subpoenas. When you aren't assisting others you're running reports, gathering files and information, taking payments, performing customer service related duties, and other duties as required. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. Under general supervision this position is responsible for handling a large number and variety of customer-related transactions at the Court&rsquo;s customer service windows, such as accepting and processing fine and fee payments, implementing standards and procedures designed to increase compliance with court-ordered payment of court fees and fines; evaluates and verifies applications for extension of time for payment of fine and court costs; maintaining a system for reviewing accounts for delinquency and follow up; dismissing certain type cases per Judicial orders; review and process defendants booked into jail to be seen in arraignments; and handling customer inquiries. This position within the Municipal Court will be primarily assigned to as either a Cashier Clerk, Collections Clerk, or Warrant Clerk, but will be cross trained in the other areas. To be successful in this position, you will need to be detail oriented and team player. You will also need to be driven to be a good public servant.</div><div></div><div>
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES</div><ul><li><div>
Greet customers and answer questions concerning the customers&rsquo; cases and their options; uses careful judgment to provide information that is accurate, pertinent, and allowable within established judicial and administrative policies.</div></li><li><div>
Process various types of correspondence via mail, email, night drop and faxes to and from defendants and judges.</div></li><li><div>

Work is performed under well established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code and requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. A Civil Support Deputy Court Clerk will be trained in File and Serve, Odyssey and Customer Service Phone Support. They are responsible for monitoring the online File and Serve database and processing confidential documents. Odyssey is a web-based computer system that manages our court cases. Civil Support Clerks are responsible for processing new and consecutive filings, scheduling hearings, implementing court policies and procedures and phone support assisting parties and the legal community with questions and concerns. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: A Deputy Court Clerk in Civil Support generally performs key clerical functions that are sometime recurring in nature and can be narrow in scope. At times, however, a support clerk will be tasked with more complex clerical tasks which will require the clerk to have a broad knowledge. of the court system in order to perform these more complex functions of the job. Runs weekly reports to assist in scheduling all hearings for small claims cases. Works with in court clerk and Judge and the TCA’s Small Claims Mediation team.
