SUMMARY</div><div>
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for daily direction and supervision of activity and work in one of the four following areas at the court: Citation Data Entry, the Court's customer service windows for cash payments or docket settings, or court&rsquo;s jail arraignments. Works to maintain accuracy of all computer records per court orders and procedures. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES</div><ul><li>

Supervise, mentor, schedule, and train staff supervised, conduct performance evaluations, approve and track leave, and administer disciplinary actions as required.</li><li>
Work with Court Executive Assistant to maintain an inventory of supplies needed for area supervised.</li><li>
Serves as lead member of the arraignment team. Processing jail arraignments on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.</li><li>
Responsible for understanding all rules and procedures governing the types of transactions that are allowed within established court/Judicial policies.</li><li>
Assist with the answering of phones and other duties as needed.</li><li>
Ability to openly and accurately communicate with court partners, the judge's office, and Amarillo Police Department Prosecutor's Office staff members, to ensure efficient daily operations and keep in line with established procedures.</li><li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</div><div>
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and five years of 5 years of experience in direct supervision and cash controls. TMCEC court clerk certification preferred. Applicant must have or be able to obtain a valid DL or ID prior to first day of employment. Must have experience dealing with the public. TMCEC Level 1 Court Clerk Certification preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.</div><div></div><div>

This position assists with cases filed with the court clerk's office including criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial filing to final disposition by developing and maintaining case files, assisting with scheduling and assigning hearings, assisting in court room proceedings, and implementing procedures for monetary dispositions; provides customer services daily to a wide variety of individuals and agencies; performs magistrate duties as assigned; and acts on behalf of the court clerk in his or her absence. (the Clerk anticipates filling up to three positions). The Courtroom Deputy is an employee of the clerk&rsquo;s office, whose duty station will be in Greensboro or Winston-Salem. The Courtroom Deputy will be assigned to a U.S. Judge located in the Greensboro or Winston-Salem Courthouse. Occasional travel to courthouses in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and/or Durham may be required.</p><p><b>REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES </b></p><ul><li>Managing the judge&rsquo;s caseload by monitoring the filing of documents, responses, and deadlines; setting dates and times for trials, hearings, and other necessary matters; and assisting the judge and judicial staff with case progression.</li><li>Providing courtroom assistance by ensuring the orderly flow of proceedings, managing exhibits, assisting witnesses and jurors, and maintaining courtroom decorum.</li><li>Serving as a liaison among the clerk&rsquo;s office, the bar, and the judge to ensure that cases proceed smoothly and efficiently.</li></ul><p><b>QUALIFICATIONS </b></p><ul><li>Requires a minimum of three years specialized experience which provided knowledge of legal terminology and procedure that might be found in a law office or other court in the judicial system.</li><li>The successful candidate must have experience in a fast-paced and demanding environment with the ability to present a professional demeanor at all times.</li><li>The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.</li><li>The ability to maintain confidential information and abide by Judiciary ethical standards is also required.</li><li>Case docketing experience, strong computer skills and knowledge of CM/ECF is desirable.</li><li>To be appointed at the CL 27 level, experience must include at least one year equivalent to work at the CL 26 level.</li></ul><p>*Preference will be given to applicants who have experience and judgment with legal documents, such as those which might be found in a law office or in another court in the judicial system, or prior paralegal experience.
