This position is located at the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL), within the Collections Department. The Collections Department is responsible for the development, acquisition, maintenance, and evaluation of library materials in all formats to ensure that DCPL&rsquo;s collections are current, diverse, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the District&rsquo;s communities. The department supports equitable access to information and resources by curating collections that reflect the cultural richness and varied interests of DC residents. The Deputy Director of Collections provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the full lifecycle of the library&rsquo;s collections, including selection, acquisitions, vendor relations, and data analysis. The incumbent reports to the Director of Collections and serves as a key advisor on collection strategy, ensuring that materials are responsive to community needs, fiscally responsible, and aligned with system-wide equity goals.</p><p>
The Deputy Director oversees the full lifecycle of library collections, including selection, acquisitions, and processing across all formats and languages. This includes managing vendor contracts, data tools, and staff responsible for purchasing and processing materials. The incumbent also supervises managers within the Collections Department, providing guidance, monitoring workflow and scheduling, approving leave, and conducting performance evaluations. The role supports system-wide collection development and ensures alignment with DCPL&rsquo;s equity and access goals.</p><p>
The work directly impacts the quality, relevance, and accessibility of materials available to the public. It supports the library&rsquo;s mission to provide inclusive, community-responsive collections and contributes to the overall success of public service delivery across all branches.</p><p>
The incumbent collaborates closely with branch managers, IT, Digital Services, and administrative leadership to ensure cohesive and strategic collection development.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>
Oversees the work of grades 7-12, exercising full supervisory authority over Selectors, Acquisitions, and Processing/Receiving staff that includes hiring, training, performance evaluation, workflow management, and professional development.</li><li>
Leads cross-functional teams and project-based workgroups.</li><li>
Manages vendor relationships, contracts, and performance, including oversight of standing orders and approval plans.</li><li>
Directs the use of data tools (e.g., Polaris Reports) to inform selection, weeding, and purchasing decisions.</li><li>
Coordinates with branch staff to ensure collections reflect local community needs and support system-wide equity goals.</li><li>
Develops and implements policies and procedures for acquisitions, and receiving, and collection maintenance.</li><li>
Leads training and onboarding for staff in acquisitions and collection workflows.</li><li>
Collaborates with IT and Digital Services on integration of new technologies and platforms.</li><li>
Supports budget planning and reporting for the Collections Department.</li><li>
Represents the department in cross-functional teams and system-wide initiatives.</li><li>
Serves as a lead or key team member from the Collections Department on all projects related to the acquisition and/or storage of materials for any opening or closure of a library location.</li><li>
Manages the system-wide weeding policy, including the development and maintenance of guidelines, a monitoring system, and a mechanism to encourage close collaboration with public service departments and locations. Ensures adherence to the weeding policy across all locations.</li><li>
Collaborate with Collection staff to provide training (Ingram, Weeding, etc.) to Public Services staff throughout the fiscal year.</li><li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS</b></p><ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Information Library Science (MLIS) from an accredited college and/or university</li><li>
Experience supervising 10 or more staff members in a library setting.</li><li>
Advanced knowledge and skills in navigating shifting priorities, budget constraints, and vendor disruptions while maintaining service continuity and staff support that requires balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight in a fast-paced, evolving environment.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience in long-range planning and budget management.</li><li>
Proficient knowledge of the ILS, spreadsheets, web, and other computer applications.</li><li>
Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.</li><li>

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Communications Associate, Digital and Design, reports to the Deputy Director of Communications and supports the daily execution of digital communications across the NAM Office of Communications, with a primary focus on website management and support. This role is ideal for a strong early-career digital generalist with demonstrated website experience who is eager to deepen that expertise while also contributing to email production, design support, and team operations.

Website work will be the central focus of this position. In the first several months, the Communications Associate will work closely with the Deputy Director of Communications, our web vendor, and other team members to learn NAM&rsquo;s website structure, workflows, standards, and priorities. The Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) are a cabinet-level agency within the District of Columbia government, committed to the safety, permanence, and well-being of children and families residing in the District of Columbia. Charged with protecting child victims and those at risk of abuse and neglect, CFSA fosters collaborations within its administrations to deliver exceptional family-focused services to the community and its residents.</p><p>
This position is in the Kinship and Placement Administration (KPA), Office of the Deputy Director for the Office of In-Home and Out-of-Home Care (OIHOHC) of the Child and Family Services Agency. The primary purpose of this position is to provide an array of thorough professional social work services to children and families by identifying and engaging kin, conducting clinical assessments of prospective kinship foster parents to determine their strengths/needs and their appropriateness to provide kinship foster care. In addition, in this role the social worker will work jointly with other areas to engage and assess children and families in the District of Columbia.</p><p><b>
Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Provide an array of clinical support to the Office of the Deputy Director for the Office of In-Home and Out-of-Home Care (OIHOHC).</li><li>
Consults and partners regularly or as needed, with the Office of the Deputy Director for Hotline and Investigations.</li><li>
Supports the case carrying Social Worker and responds to unresolved situations requiring urgent in-home crisis interventions.</li><li>

</div><p>In this role, you will support the ARPA-E executive leadership team on all financial matters and oversee all budget formulation, execution, and evaluation activities for the agency. The Associate Director for Finance has a tremendous impact on the energy innovation community through the technologies ARPA-E supports with the intent to disrupt today's systems and transform how the United States generates, stores, and uses energy. ARPA-E's Associate Director for Finance (ADF) serves as the Chief Financial Officer for ARPA-E and fulfills the agency's responsibilities for the planning, analysis, justification, control, and reporting of all fiscal resources to plan, develop and carry out ARPA-E's goals, programs, objective and operations. The ADF provides executive leadership to ensure sound financial stewardship. The ADF also serves as the agency's Budget Officer and oversees annual budget formulation and justification processes ensuring that ARPA-E's needs are appropriately justified and effectively communicated across the Administration and to Congress. The ADF oversees the administrative control of all agency funds ($300-$400M per year) for effective use of ARPA-E resources, the agency's invoicing review process to ensure funded projects receive payment in a consistent and timely manner, and safeguards proper conduct of all accounting and financial operations in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.<br>

The ADF also supports the Deputy Director for Operations in the management and oversight of the ARPA-E organization and all assigned resources (including a contractor workforce) to ensure that the mission of ARPA-E is accomplished with consistency in policy, direction, and compliance with overall Departmental policy, goals, and objectives. The ADF also oversees all aspects of ARPA-E IT systems and serves as the system owner for those systems.<br>

As one of ARPA-E's leaders, the ADF works with the Director and Deputy Directors to execute the agency's mission consistent with the overall program strategy, including consideration for the high-risk nature of the work. These transformational R&amp;D projects and programs are performed by companies, academic institutions, research foundations, industry collaborations, consortia, and other qualified R&amp;D entities to develop new technologies to supply the United States (and the world), with affordable, reliable, and secure energy.<br>

Composes letters, and reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries to the general public.
 </li><li>Compiles input from CA/OCS for weekly activity reports and other requisite reports.</li><li>
Keeps the CA/OCS Director informed at all times of the latest developments on matters that require immediate attention.
</li><li>Serves as CA/OCS&rsquo;s SharePoint site POC and works to improve accessibility, archives, and functionality; provides regular training and briefings on the use of SharePoint to manage paper flow to staff within and outside the Bureau. Responsible for tracking and editing events, adding and removing users, and creating and uploading documents according to formatting and clearance guidance set by the CA Front Office and the Department.</li><li>
Coordinates with the Deputy Director on HR duties, including hiring, onboarding, personnel actions, and bidding.</li><li>
Assist with the flow of inquiries from congressional offices, other bureaus, and the White House. Ensure they are routed to the correct internal entities for drafting, review, and clearance.</li><li>
Performs other developmental, leadership and training activities and assignments as applicable.</li><li>
Secondary/Backup Duties:<ul><li>
Maintain office supply inventory and assist with ordering using ARIBA and GSA Advantage.</li><li>
Update office directories and distribution lists as needed.</li><li>
Assist with travel authorizations and voucher processing under supervision.</li><li>
Support the maintenance of organizational calendars and email lists.</li><li>
Provide basic customer service to internal and external stakeholders.</li></ul></li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</li><li>
Basic knowledge of SharePoint.</li><li>
Strong organizational, interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills.</li><li>
Attention to detail in proofreading and formatting.</li><li>
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.</li><li>
Ability to learn new systems and processes.</li><li>
Active Secret Clearance.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree required.</li><li>
1+ years&rsquo; work experience in an administrative or support role, preferably in a government or public affairs setting.
