Job Summary 
 
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Nutrition and Food Services department, contributing to the strategic 
 
planning process. Oversees all dietary and related food services functions. Oversees diet and menu planning. Monitors the dispensing and distribution of food and other related supplies. 
 
Provides knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques. Demonstrates the ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Measures quality and monitors key industry indicators to ensure continuous improvement. 
 
Assists with providing feedback in the collection and preparation of required budget information. Assists with coordinating each department's budget to include employee hour and department related expenses. Understands the critical components associated and required to achieve intended results. Displays ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining and leveraging talent across the unit. 
 
Flexible and creative in problem solving and demonstrates effective communication techniques. Maintains departmental applications and designs process flows for implementation of changes, enhancements, and interfaces collaborating with information services to set realistic timeframes. 
 
Actively participates in tasks force, committees, staff meetings, etc. to assist with the department initiatives, implement goals, and organizational strategies. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Trains others on main considerations and issues related to laws and regulations in the implementation of healthcare and nutritional practices. 
 
Collaborates and actively participates in measuring employee performance. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. 
 
Maintains current certifications in specialty, continues education when necessary as well as tracks, and maintains for staff as needed. Possesses knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
 
Qualifications 
 
Advanced education preferred. 
 
Minimum three years&rsquo; experience required in the area of hire. 
 
CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) certification or a register dietitian preferred. If necessary, acquire Serv Safe certification 
 
within a year of hire.

Under the general direction of the Food and Beverage Manager, the Chef assists in oversight of the daily operations for Patient Food Services.
 Position Details
 <ul>
<li>Location: Community Hospice and Palliative Care; 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville FL</li>
<li>Compensation: Base salary ($16-16.50/hr) and full-benefits package, including 23 days PTO annually</li>
<li>Days/Hours: 4x10 hr shifts (6:30am-5:30pm), rotating weekends. Typical bi-weekly schedule:</li>

 Job Responsibilities
 
Prepares, sets-up and provides quality service in all areas of food production for resident and staff meals in accordance with Community Hospice established standards and specifications.
 
Delivers and return food carts to specified areas.
 
Wash all dishes, cookware and carts pertaining to the patient foodservice and overall kitchen.
 
Maintains organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment including all surfaces, floors, and garbage removal.
 
Adheres to safe food handling procedures.
 
Communicates with Food & Beverage Manager on day to day tasks and issues.
 
Anticipates and meets the needs of the residents, if needed, and staff while maintaining the highest levels of customer service in the delivery of all food services.
 
Maintains current resident census and diet requests and/or preferences.
 
Distributes meal evaluation forms and provides feedback to the Food and Beverage Manager as requested.
 
Checks e-mail daily to ensure timely patient information updates.
 
Communicates well with all Hospice Staff/Guests.
 
Ensures time clock procedures are followed and time checked.
 
Float to all inpatient facilities when needed to cover staffing needs.
 
Adheres to established policies and procedures set forth by Community Hospice and Palliative Care, and both local and state guidelines governing food service establishments.
 
All other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Manager.
 
Required Licenses/Certifications: 
Must maintain a current food handler’s certificate.
 
Education/Experience: 
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
 
High School diploma or GED.
 
Minimum of two (2) years of food service preparation/cooking experience.
 
Knowledge of: 
Basic food service techniques; Food service equipment and safety standards.
 
Food service health requirements both state and local.
 
Skilled at: 
Producing daily prescribed meals and baking goods.
 
Reading and following menus and recipes in the English language.
 
Computing basic mathematical calculations.
 
Communicating both orally and in written English form.

Dietary Aide Job Summary: 
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting residents fulfill specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. In addition to this, they would be assisting the Dietary Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, established facility policies and procedures, to ensure that quality food service and nutritional care is provided.
