As the Director of Communications, you will shape how SPP communicates its mission, values, and commitments to reliability, transparency, and innovation. This role is both strategic and hands-on, guiding internal and external communications, crisis messaging, brand management, and stakeholder engagement. Strategic Communications Leadership</b></p>

Education Requirements:</b></p>

<p><b>JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION</b></p><p><b>Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids</b></p><p>The primary purpose of this position is to provide communication services for the church. The Communication Director will create, organize, plan and implement effective communication messages and strategies for/with church and community audiences. The individual will support church and ministry leaders in conveying their vision and communication priorities to appropriate audiences.</p><p>This is a part-time, 7 hours per week position. The Director of Communication reports to the Pastor.</p><p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><ul><li>Participation in regularly scheduled staff meetings determined by the Pastor.</li><li>Serve as Communication Center between church office, parishioners, and the world.</li></ul><p>&middot; Unify and align all church communication. This role owns all external communications: social media, website, email, PR, and thought leadership. You'll develop and execute the strategies that position World Centric at the intersection of environmental advocacy, social impact, and business done differently &mdash; while also knowing when a product or materials innovation is worth amplifying because it advances the larger narrative.</p><p>
To be direct: much of what this role will build does not fully exist yet. World Centric has a strong mission and real impact &mdash; but the communications function, the content strategy, and the brand voice are largely waiting to be shaped. This is a genuine opportunity to build something, not maintain it.</p><p>
The primary lens of this role is mission and brand, not product. That said, when we have a product or materials innovation worth talking about &mdash; particularly to our core foodservice audience &mdash; this person will know how to tell that story in a way that's targeted, credible, and connected to the larger narrative we're building.</p><p>

<p>
The Office of Research and Innovation (OR&amp;I) supports MSU&rsquo;s research enterprise by administering research funding, ensuring research integrity for both faculty and students, providing grant support services, fostering collaboration, licensing university inventions, and overseeing regulatory compliance.</p>
<p>
OR&amp;I currently seeks a senior level Director of Communications to lead the strategic communications efforts for this major administrative unit (MAU). This individual will develop, coordinate, and execute communication plans, initiatives, and strategies to support the research enterprise and elevate the research reputation of the University. The Director also advises members of the Leadership team on communications, and develops key messages, speeches and other materials that align with broader goals and initiatives.</p>
<p>
The Director will lead the communications unit, a cross-functional team of communication professionals supporting strategic communication, events, and other initiatives related to the Office of Research and Innovation and its reporting units. The position reports to the Chief of Staff in Research and Innovation and is a member of the leadership team.</p>
<p>
This individual will represent and support the office by participating in strategic communication planning, aligning internal communication strategies to support goals and objectives of broad institutional initiatives, provide executive communication support, and represent the office in university-level meetings. Leadership, proactive decision-making, project management, and delegation are all skillsets that will be required for this position.
