 Director of Nursing RN Duties and Responsibilities:

 Reviews daily work assignments to ensure they meet regulatory compliance and provide consistent staffing whenever possible.

 Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action, as needed.

 Responsible for recruitment, training, clinical orientation, supervision, scheduling, time cards, and personnel issues in the nursing department.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participates with the Medical Consultants and the Administrator in the selection of all potential new admissions to the facility and assess items needed in the facility to meet the new resident&rsquo;s needs, admission, retention, and discharge of residents.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures physicians make visits as required.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures necessary equipment, supplies, and staffing are available for the delivery of the prescribed resident/patient care.
 </li>
 <li>
 Manages the nursing department budget and provides Administrator with budgetary planning information related to equipment needs and staffing.
 </li>
 <li>
 Completes rounds of the facility at least daily to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborates with the Administrator in the planning of staff development programs that will enhance staff knowledge in providing quality resident care.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures each resident&rsquo;s/patient&rsquo;s RAI/IPOC process is carried out on a timely basis.
 </li>
 <li>
 Works with regional personnel to continuously improve the quality of resident/patient care.
 </li>
 <li>
 On call 24 hours a day for nursing emergencies. If out of town/not available, designates a qualified nurse to assume such duties. The designee must be approved by the Administrator and appropriate facility personnel notified.
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for providing oversight in maintaining, monitoring and evaluation of records and designation of nursing programs essential in the care of the residents.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strategic plans or program development for improved outcomes to reduce unnecessary returns to acute care.
 </li>

Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities</li>
<li>Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing department</li>
<li>Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made my authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed</li>
<li>Prepare and plan the nursing service department's budget and submit to the Administrator for his/her review, recommendations, and/or approval</li>
<li>Determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residents</li>
<li>Assist the Administrator and/or the HR Director in the recruitment and selection of nursing service personnel</li>
<li>Assist the HR Director in developing performance evaluation schedules, criteria, and annual reviews for the nursing service department (e.g., RNs, LPNs, CNAs, medication aides, etc.)</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university</li>
<li>Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility</li>
<li>Must have, as a minimum, six (6) months of equivalent experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices</li>
<li>Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state</li>
<li>Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public</li>
<li>Must speak, read, and write English fluently</li>
<li>Must have an active CPR/BLS certification</li></ul>
