<p><b>Director of Surgical Services </b><b>Position Summary</b></p>
<p>The Director of Surgical Services is a Registered Nurse that has the authority, accountability, and responsibility for the administration and fiscal management of the Surgical Services Department. Responsibility for maintaining optimal standards of clinical practice and for ensuring that nursing practice is consistent with current care and regulation in the State of Maryland. A member of the Patient Care Leadership Team and participates in planning, policy development, and clinical priority setting for the hospital.</p>
<p><b>Director of Surgical Services </b><b>Position Requirements</b></p>
<p><b>Education:</b></p>
<ul><li>Experiential and educational preparation should include organization and management theories, human resources management, strategies of nursing management, and foundational knowledge in health law, statistics and research.
</li><li>Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required.
</li><li>MSN preferred or other related Master's Degree.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Licensure/Certification:</b></p>
<ul><li>Licensed and current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or Delaware, as applicable.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Experience:</b></p>
<ul><li>At least five (5) years of nursing experience with at least three (3) years in a nursing management experience.</li>

Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Dentist is responsible for providing preventive, restorative, endodontic, oral surgery and prosthetic dental services to children and adults.</div><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b></h1><ul><li>
Provide diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontics, endodontic, oral surgery, and prosthetic dental services to children and adults.</li></ul><ul><li>
Educate patients on proper tooth and gum care.</li><li>
Works collaboratively with other staff members.</li><li>
Participates in chart audits and peer review.</li><li>
Recognizes and manages common acute and chronic oral conditions within her/his scope of practice.</li><li>
Collaborates with health care team regarding treatments, referrals, and follow-up care of patients.</li><li>
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards</li><li>
Supervises dental hygienists as needed.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>
Completion of 1-yr post-graduate General Dentistry program or 2 years practical experience.</li><li>
District of Columbia license to practice dentistry.</li><li>

KNOWLEDGE &amp; EXPEREINCE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION</b></h1><ul><li>
Experience with special populations preferred.</li><li>

Ability to perform dental procedures efficiently and safely.</li></ul><div>
<b> SUPERVISORY CONTROLS</b></div><div>
