<br>
The 12th Judicial District is a moderate-sized judicial district, as measured by caseload activity, number of court employees, number of divisions, number of counties, and population by district. The District Court Administrator serves as the chief non judicial administrator of the court, responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient case management, and supporting judges and staff in delivering fair and timely justice. The District Court Administrator is a responsible, organized, and strategic professional who can balance the day to day operational demands with long term planning.

Plans and organizes administrative services; determines organizational requirements and plans office layout, space utilization, and workflow of court administrative activities.</li><li>
Assigns employees to administrative and clerical functions; develops and establishes procedures for operating and maintaining required workflow and administrative systems; procures equipment and supplies to perform administrative services of the court and disseminates information to court employees.</li><li>
Directs budgeting, accounting, personnel, payroll, statistics, purchasing, financial reporting, jury management, property and space management and other major staff services; directs employees in the preparation, reproduction, and distribution of court orders, directives, administrative publications, communications, and reports; directs employees in the identification and evaluation of court record material and in the application of proper record filing and disposition procedures; and directs the records management activities of the judicial district.</li><li>
Prepares and presents budget requests.</li><li>
Plans, organizes, and monitors special projects; prepares grant applications for funding and prepares progress reports.</li><li>
Evaluates the effectiveness of personnel and administrative programs to determine requirements for program modification and personnel training, promotion, or reassignment; establishes personnel training programs.</li><li>
Develops plans and programs for the application of electronic data processing to court processes and evaluates funding resources.</li><li>
Directs the development of programs required to achieve the objectives of the court.</li><li>
Coordinates with the Office of Judicial Administration in the development and completion of special projects or assignments.</li><li>
Conferring with judges, all levels of court staff, county commissioners, attorneys, litigants, public and private agencies, criminal justice system participants and the public to ensure adequate communication, administrative services and provide for changing or unusual demands.</li><li>

Education and experience:</b><br>

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in court administration, public administration, business administration, or a related field supplemented by a law degree or master&rsquo;s degree in judicial, public, or business administration; and one year of court administrative experience. Two years additional court administrative experience may be substituted for the law or master&rsquo;s degree requirement.<br>

<div><p>The Court Administrator/Clerk of Court will be responsible for all aspects of court operations. The duties will involve the usual responsibilities of such positions&mdash;including handling all filings and management of official records, scheduling dockets, preparation of court minutes, and assisting with trials and hearings. The Clerk will oversee computer records and transcription systems. The Court Administrator will assist in the preparation and administration of the court budget, arrange for court security, handle public information, and provide administrative management of jurors and witnesses.
</p><p>The position is one of trust and involves the management of court funds. The Court Administrator/Court Clerk must be able to develop relationships of trust and respect with litigants, legal professionals, judges, and the public.

<br>Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience. Substitution: Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.  Summary of Duties
 <br/>
 <br/>
 Plans, directs, controls and coordinates the court support functions of an organizational segment; participates in the development, evaluation, implementation and modification of new policies, procedures, work methods and programs, and recommends and/or makes changes as necessary; attends to administrative housekeeping matters; and performs other duties as required.

 : Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional, administrative, technical work experience in one or a combination of the following areas. Clerical work experience is non-qualifying:

   In a court or legal setting, responsibility for supervising or overseeing the operational activities of a unit or section whose primary function is the preparation and/or processing of legal documents. Such experience must have included: (1) planning and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing their work; (3) advising them on difficult problem areas; (4) timing and scheduling their work; (5) training and developing new employees; and (6) disciplining them when necessary. Examples of legal setting are: Office of the Prosecutor, Public Defender, Department of the Attorney General, legal department in a financial institution or trust company, private attorney&rsquo;s office.
  </li>
  <li>
   Independently performing professional work involving written analysis, evaluation and recommendations for problem resolution in a court or legal setting, social work or administrative program of the courts.

  Staff Specialist OR Supervisory Experience
 </strong>
 : Six (6) months of experience in one of the following areas:

   Staff Specialist Experience: Work in a criminal justice system which included the development and/or modification of an institutional program, and/or work in a criminal justice system which included program development; evaluation and the development of new and revised procedures; and advisory services to management in the overall aspects of program development and evaluation.

  <li>
   Supervisory Experience: Experience which included: (1) planning and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing their work; (3) advising them on difficult problem areas; (4) timing and scheduling their work; (5) training and developing of new employees; and (6) disciplining them when necessary.

  Administrative Experience
 </strong>
 : Administrative aptitude rather than actual administrative experience is accepted. Administrative aptitude will be considered to have been met for this level when there is strong evidence of the necessary administrative aptitudes and abilities. Such evidence may be in the form of success in regular or special assignments or projects which involve administrative problems (e.g., planning, organizing, promoting and directing a program providing staff advice and assistance); interest in management demonstrated by the performance of work assignments in a manner which clearly indicates awareness of problems and the ability to solve them; completion of educational or training courses in the areas of management accompanied by the application of principles, which were learned, to work assignments; management&rsquo;s observation and evaluation of the applicant&rsquo;s leadership and managerial capabilities; success in trial assignments to managerial and/or administrative tasks.
