Position Summary:
The DV Client Advocate is responsible for individual services, including case management, advocacy, and crisis-counseling as well as presenting educational programs to the community. The DV Client Advocate reports directly to the Outreach Program Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>
Provide crisis-intervention and counseling to individuals and family members and significant others affected by sexual violence.
</li><li>Accompany individuals through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide victims with case-related medical and legal information.</li><li>
Present educational programs in schools, community and church groups, and other professional organizations. Assist with additional outreach efforts and attend scheduled events.</li><li>
Provide case management assisting with resources, provide appropriate referrals, safety planning and completing monthly surveys.
</li><li>Coordinate and facilitate support group services for individuals affected by domestic violence.</li><li>

Requirements:
<ul><li>
The DV Client Advocate must successfully complete 60-hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate and Domestic Violence Response Team training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV).
</li><li>Advocates have experience working with people, especially on a one-to-one basis, and demonstrated sensitivity toward the needs of individuals affected by domestic violence. Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required.
</li><li>A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services is preferred. Work experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis.</li><li>
Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years</li><li>

You will communicate with on-call staff including Supervisors, Crisis Hotline/Chat Counselors, SANE nurses, law enforcement, and community partners.</li><li>
You will coordinate shelter placement and emergency transportation of clients as needed with Hotline and Shelter team.</li><li>
You will attend mandatory monthly meetings and training with Manager of Hospital Accompaniment &amp; Crisis Intervention Services, All Department Staff Meetings and/or meet as assigned.</li><li>
You will do mandatory Reporting: report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to either Child Protective services or Adult Protective Service when appropriate.</li><li>
You will maintain sufficient inventory at all times while on-shift of information packets and clothing for clients. Supplies provided by agency.</li><li>

Job SummaryThe Laurel Center's Advocates provide support to Victims and Survivors of Family Violence (FV), Domestic Violence (DV), and Sexual Violence (SV) in the communities of Clarke, Frederick, and Warren Counties in Virginia; including the cities of Winchester and Front Royal.Advocates oversee early intervention responses to victims and provide relevant information and referral to services, advocacy, counseling, and support services to victims of DV and SV involved in the criminal justice system.Duties and responsibilitiesClient Services:1. Provide short term educational based counseling, crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual and domestic violence.2. Brief victims about legal remedies available to them and the services available through The Laurel Center, including:<ul><li>Working with the Victim/Witness to prepare the victim to be a more effective witness during court proceedings.</li><li>Acting as a liaison between the courts and the victim</li><li>Providing the victim with continued emotional support throughout the court proceedings and hearings.</li></ul>3. Job Description:
This employment opportunity is to serve as a Community Service Aide (Abuse Intervention Specialist) to facilitate court mandated group programming for individuals who have used abusive behaviors in intimate partner relationships. Under direction, will perform a variety of routine field and office work involved in community-oriented programs. This position delivers structured, evidence based psychoeducational programming focused on offender accountability, behavior change, and victim/survivor safety.
Job Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Assists in the implementation and delivery of community-oriented service programs which benefit community residents.</li>
<li>Facilitate structured group intervention sessions using an evidence-based Abuse Intervention Program curriculum</li>
<li>Challenge abusive belief systems and promote accountability through cognitive behavioral approaches</li>
<li>Monitor participant compliance with court and program requirements</li>
<li>Conduct ongoing risk assessments and report safety concerns appropriately</li>
<li>Refers information to appropriate agencies regarding needs for new/altered programs for community residents.</li>
<li>Prepares reports.</li>
<li>Maintains essential records and files.

Education and Experience Requirements: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education.
<ul><li>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Forensics, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or closely related field</li>
</ul>
and
<ul><li>One (1) year of professional experience in: group facilitation, counseling services, domestic violence intervention, offender accountability programming, case management, crisis intervention, or community-based social services</li>
</ul>
or
<ul><li>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master&rsquo;s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Forensics, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or closely related field.</li>

or
<ul><li>Three (3) years of relevant professional experience.</li>
</ul>
Other Requirements:
<ul><li>Preferred: LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or other relevant counseling/social work licensure</li>
<li>Mandatory DV Confidentiality Training: Must have completed or be willing and able to complete the 40-hour mandatory victim confidentiality training (NJ State requirement per N.J.A.C. 10:121)</li>
<li>CPR/AED certification preferred (can be obtained within 90 days of hire)</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Bilingual Spanish/English candidates are strongly encouraged to apply (must be able to read, write, speak, and understand both languages sufficiently to perform duties)</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.</li>

<li>Appointees will be required to possess a driver&rsquo;s license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position.</li>
