Position DescriptionDomestic Violence Adult AdvocateSince 1989, Rivers of Hope (ROH) has ensured that adult and youth victims living in the midst of violence and crisis receive a rapid response and ongoing support to ensure long-term safety and independence. The organization serves residents of Sherburne and Wright Counties and is the primary provider of community advocacy and support services for victims of domestic violence in these communities.The mission of Rivers of Hope is to promote a community coordinated response to end family violence through advocacy, education, and interagency collaboration.Job Profile and Reporting Relationships As part of a team of advocates, the Adult Advocate is responsible for providing direct support to adult victims of domestic violence in need of crisis intervention and support services in Sherburne and Wright Counties. This non-exempt position focuses on crisis intervention, assessment, safety planning, community collaboration, and referrals for adult victims of domestic violence while collaborating with the Youth Advocate team on behalf of children and youth victims. This work is primarily done in-person or over the phone, but can also be completed in the community or online. The Adult Advocate reports to the Program Director.Key Duties and Responsibilities General Advocacy to Clients<ul><li>Offer safety planning, needs assessment, and resource referrals.</li><li>Assist clients in finding shelter, securing basic needs, and arranging transportation.</li><li>Facilitate support/educational groups for survivors.</li><li>Facilitate community presentations in jails, schools and community events.</li></ul>Legal Advocacy Services<ul><li>Inform client of Victim Rights.</li><li>Assist victims in making a police report and/or filing and Order for Protection or Harassment Restraining Order.</li><li>Accompany victims to court and prepare her/him for the court procedure or for an upcoming court date.</li><li>Provide advocacy services on behalf of the client to understand and effectively navigate process through contacts with professionals within the court and law enforcement systems.</li><li>Establish, build and maintain professional relationships within the court and legal system. This may include contacts with judges, attorneys, prosecutors, court administration, probation officers and law enforcement.</li><li>Assist victims with reparations applications and appropriate follow up concerning court cases.</li><li>Accompany the clients to court and other law enforcement locations to offer support and additional advocacy as needed.</li><li>Track client cases when requested by client through the Criminal Justice system in order to monitor, report and perform appropriate follow-up. Position Summary:

The Legal and Community Advocate (DVLCA) provides trauma-informed domestic violence advocacy support to survivors who navigate various legal and community systems. Sensitive to the emotions and experiences of survivors, the DVLCA performs crisis intervention, safety planning, resource/information, and advocacy.

The DVLCA advocate works in a community advocacy team environment to provide resources, support, and create opportunities for survivors to thrive. The Legal advocate commonly spends time providing compassionate support to survivors, listening to their situations, assessing their needs, strategizing and safety planning, connecting them to resources, accompanying them to court, supporting them with protection orders, and assisting with family law cases, criminal justice matters, and answering the advocacy and support line. The DVLCA will meet clients where they feel safe or attend court hearings across King County; however, some hours are required at the administrative office in Kent.

Advocacy:

<li>Provide support with civil legal issues, such as providing education around legal rights and processes, navigating multiple legal systems, and referring clients to appropriate legal services, as necessary.</li>
<li>Support survivors in criminal justice proceedings, both as the victim and/or the defendant in cases.</li>
<li>May facilitate community support groups for survivors.</li>
<li>Develop strong relationships with service providers and acts as a liaison between clients and said providers.</li>
<li>Answer the 24-hour advocacy and support line during scheduled shifts.</li>
<li>Understand institutional barriers to services and support and works with outside systems and/or providers to improve the survivor&rsquo;s experience navigating the system.</li>
<li>Support other advocates and team members in their work through consultations, training, or providing co-advocacy, especially in the areas where the advocate may have specific expertise or experience.</li>

About DAWN:

DAWN is a holistic domestic violence agency located in South King County supporting survivors of domestic violence, the community, and other social services agencies towards the goal of ending domestic violence. Through our wide variety of programming, we strive to serve survivors wherever they are in their relationships, meeting their needs as they prioritize them, and working with them physically wherever they deem safe, within the South King County region. Legal and Community Advocate

The Advocate supports the agency in employing a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to victim advocacy and system response to sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, and domestic violence in the 5-county service area by collaborating with survivors along their path towards their self-determined goals. They will exercise ethical and inclusive practices that are trauma-informed, survivor centered, and founded within an anti-oppression framework. They will understand and apply the Core Competencies of Advocacy to their work. The Advocate will collaborate with community partners and other systems, demonstrating a commitment to raising awareness, increasing understanding of the Hope Shores mission, and improving access to resources and support for survivors and their support persons. They will be flexible in their scheduling to meet the varying scheduling needs of individuals with whom they are working. The Advocate is required to regularly travel across the 5-county service area of Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties to meet survivors for appointments, court, other systems-based appointments, attend community meetings, and facilitate agency outreach efforts. They will be expected to work a rotating on-call shift that supports 24/7 crisis and support service delivery system to the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and/or the Domestic Assault Response Team (DART).ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):<ul><li>Provide survivor-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed advocacy and crisis intervention services to primary and secondary survivors of sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, and domestic violence.</li><li>Empower survivors through navigation of self-determined goals including but not limited to, supportive listening, safety planning, planning/facilitation of support groups, connection with resources, community and/or intra-agency referrals, and accompaniment for legal, medical, and other crisis/emergency-based needs as requested with respect for survivors&rsquo; right to choose.</li><li>Provide housing advocacy, housing placement, relocation, and assist with housing needs assessment.</li><li>Work with survivors to create a goal-oriented housing plan that connects survivors to agency and community programs for support during their time enrolled in the housing program.</li><li>Connect with survivors to identify additional desired supportive services such as education, training, job placement, treatment services, or other self-identified supports.</li><li>Continually revisit and reassess the Individual Plan of Service alongside program participants and provide ongoing case management to support survivors with their self-identified goals.</li><li>Engage in collaborative meetings, outreach, and community awareness events to enhance community partnerships, provide education, and advocate for increased survivor resources, bringing a trauma informed lens to discussion.</li><li>Research and maintain current information regarding community support and resources.</li><li>Support survivors in navigating civil and legal systems including assistance with criminal justice system referrals, crime victims&rsquo;
