Engages in fire suppression and fire prevention activities as a member of a fire company, to protect and safeguard lives and property. Performs rescue and First Responder medicalassistance on a regular basis. Assists in the maintenance and repair of fire stations and equipment. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.<br>
<br>
<b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></div>
<ul><li>Performs first aid, CPR, automatic defibrillation, and medical assistance tasks as required.</li>
<li>Performs all phases of fire suppression duties, including laying hose lines, operating nozzles and master-stream devices, raising and climbing ladders, ventilation work, and salvage and overhaul operations.</li>
<li>Performs extrication and rescue operations to remove trapped victims from hazardous or life-threatening situations.</li>
<li>Participates in and conducts numerous types of training activities covering all phases of Department operations, including attendance at state and regional fire schools and seminars.</li>
<li>Drives fire apparatus, operates pump and aerial devices under both emergency and non-emergency conditions in the absence of the Driver Engineer.</li>
<li>Participates in fire prevention activities by making fire prevention and fire safety inspections of schools, churches, hospitals, and other public and private business, commercial, and industrial facilities for fire hazards and fire code violations.</li>
<li>Performs first responder duties for hazardous material calls.</li>
<li>Cleans and performs routine maintenance on fire stations and grounds, apparatus, equipment, and tools.</li>
<li>Assists other City Departments and citizens as necessary.</li>

<li>Participates in public fire safety education and public relations programs including tours at school and in fire stations.</li>

<li>Skills in performing mechanical and physical tasks.</li>
<li>Ability to assume leadership duties during periods assigned Fire Captain duties and fire apparatus operation during periods assigned Driver Engineer duties.</li>
<li>Knowledge of fire behavior; hydraulic principles; fire suppression tactics; and department rules, policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Knowledge of City geography, principles of building construction, and basic first aid and life support.</li>

Uses a variety of equipment including fire suppression equipment, emergency medical equipment, fire protection equipment, hand and power tools and communication equipment and other related equipment. Operation of various fire trucks and other motor vehicles. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.<br>

<b>Working Environment/Physical Requirements</b><br>
<br>
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor settings under adverse and dangerous conditions and in the presence of extreme temperatures. Exposure to various hazards including elevated noise levels, vibrations from fire hoses, toxic fumes, odors, limited ventilation, hazardous materials, chemicals, body fluids including blood, hot fire gases, chilling, soaking, overheating, dust, dirt and hazards of fighting fires in general. Exposed to diesel fumes from fire trucks on a regular basis inside and outside the fire house. Visual acuity and color perception are a must. This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, tasting or smelling and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm&rsquo;s length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock, working with explosives, exposure to vibration, wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and high stress traffic conditions; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).<br>

Primary Position Purpose:</b></p>
<p>The Driver Leader executes on U.S. Xpress&rsquo; initiatives daily with an obsession around driver satisfaction and customer focus. The Driver Leader is flexible and ready to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the industry and challenge of the day.</p><p><br>
</p><p><b>Position Functions:</b></p>
<ul><li> Supervise driver performance according to company policies, DOT regulations, all other federally or locally mandated rules/laws/guidelines.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Directly supervise multiple drivers at any given time (new hires, drivers off truck, drivers needing additional training support, etc.).</li></ul>
<ul><li> Responsible for the satisfaction of a driver while they are over the road.</li></ul>

The mission of the Waymo AI Foundations team is to develop machine learning solutions addressing open problems in autonomous driving, towards the goal of safely operating Waymo vehicles in dozens of cities and under all driving conditions. As part of our work, we also initiate and foster collaborations with other research teams in Alphabet. AI Foundations areas that we are currently focusing on include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation.</p>

<li>Work with a creative team of people who help to build the state-of-the-art Foundation Models that are used throughout Waymo&rsquo;s systems, both onboard autonomous vehicles and offboard in simulation</li>

<li>5+ years of experience in ML engineering and applied Deep Learning, with a strong portfolio of shipped products or publication record</li>
<li>Experience with large scale distributed system</li>
<li>Proficient programming skills (eg: Python, C/C++)</li>
<li>Strong analytical and debugging skills</li></ul><br>
