The Driver, Trainee Component position learns the essential functions of the Driver job including the accurate and timely distribution of products to various customer locations. The Driver Trainee gains exposure to warehouse and other operational functions as part of the developmental process of becoming a McLane Driver.

What you'll do as a Trainee Component Driver:
 
<ul><li>Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.</li><li>
Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.</li><li>
Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.</li><li>
Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product.</li><li>
Rides and trains with Driver Trainer of tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill in starting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns, backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.</li><li>
Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions.</li><li>
Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises.</li><li>
Provides customer service including on-time delivery of undamaged product, product returns and issuing valid customer credits.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Trainee Component Driver Teammate:
 
<ul><li>High School Diploma or GED preferred.</li><li>
Possess a Class A CDL.</li><li>
Be at least 21 years of age.</li><li>
Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.</li><li>
Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers.</li><li>
Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.</li><li>
Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.</li><li>
Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates.</li><li>
Safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on board PeopleNet devices.

This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.  POSITION SUMMARY:
 
 A Driver Trainee will be trained by Republic Services to obtain a commercial driver&rsquo;s license (CDL) to then assume the responsibility of a Driver with our Company. Driver Trainees will complete a comprehensive training program and be given the resources to take the CDL examination. Once the Driver Trainee completes the program and obtains a CDL, the incumbent will be moved into a Driver position in one of the Company&rsquo;s lines of business, including but not limited to, Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.
 
 
 
 Principal Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Successfully complete Republic Services&rsquo; CDL training program, which includes classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources (including the loan of a truck) necessary to take and pass the state CDL examination.
 </li>
 <li>
 Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
 </li>
 <li>
 Learn to perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the assigned vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
 </li>
 <li>
 Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
 </li>
 <li>
 Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
 </li>
 <li>
 Learn to identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
 </li>

 Learn to continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
 </li>
 <li>
 Continuously monitor the condition of any assigned vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.

 Follow all required safety policies and procedures.

<div>POSITION SUMMARY: A Non-CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating a vehicle and promptly completing assigned daily tasks. In addition, the Non-CDL Driver is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in compliance with the Company&rsquo;s safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports (&ldquo;VCRs&rdquo;) on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner. 
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Performs complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.

Courteously interacts with customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all assigned work is completed in a timely manner.</li><li>
Cleans areas around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
</li><li>Continuously monitors the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time.</li><li>
Completes required paperwork, Vehicle Condition Report (&ldquo;VCR&rdquo;) and other reports, as necessary.

Actively participate in the Company&rsquo;s ReSOP program.</li><li>

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation&rsquo;s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.
We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.

 Main Purpose of Job
 
 
 
 The main purpose of this job is to transport medications from the pharmacy to the medication rooms while adhering to daily delivery schedules. This position ensures the integrity and security of medications during transportation, keeps accurate records of deliveries, follows established delivery schedules, and gathers hospital isolation trash and transport to vendor pickup point on-site. At times, this position may also transport physically or mentally ill patients and the staff that accompany them, and transport supplies, food, equipment, donated items, mail, medication and lab specimens. All transports shall be in a safe, timely, dignified and professional manner utilizing various types of vehicles such as vans, buses, passenger cars and trucks. This position is designated as Emergency Essential and expected to report for work or remain at the work site to continue agency operations during an emergency closing situation.
