 The opportunity
 
 
 Planetizen is looking for a talented and ambitious Associate Editor to steer the platform&rsquo;s editorial operations. The Associate Editor, reporting to the Editorial Manager, has a high degree of ownership over editorial quality and output, and helping grow Planetizen&rsquo;s reach and engagement.
 
 
 This is an excellent role for a growth-oriented, early-mid career editor who is passionate about contributing to a healthy media ecosystem around urban development issues. The role has ample room for growth with opportunities to pitch and champion new ideas and grow the position&rsquo;s scope and status. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong editorial skills and judgement, and a high level of drive and initiative. The Associate Editor is a key member of the Planetizen team, working directly with contributors to deliver value to a large audience across the U.S. and beyond.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 Editing, publishing and writing &ndash; 50% of time
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Assigning and editing 2-5 feature, op-ed, analysis and other editorial pieces per week, working closely with external contributors to hone pitches for assignment and delivering substantive, line and copy edits in a timely manner.
 </li>
 <li>
 Packaging pieces for publishing: writing sharp, catchy headlines and deks; choosing attractive, editorially relevant and interesting imagery; utilizing AP style; uploading and formatting pieces in Planetizen&rsquo;s content management system and scheduling them for release.
 </li>

 Taking an active role in shaping editorial processes, content types and overall editorial ideation, including proactively identifying and problem-solving barriers to success and ideating opportunities for improvement and growth
 </li>

 Writing short editorial posts (like monthly wrap-ups and Planetizen&rsquo;s Federal Action Tracker), and contributing unique feature, op-ed, analysis or other editorial content pieces

 Qualifications

 2+ years experience in a newsroom or other journalistic/editorial environment, ideally with hands-on experience managing external contributors

 Comfort in a fast-paced environment handling high volumes of content. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to write and edit quickly while maintaining accuracy, clean copy and overall editorial quality

 Strong judgement, critical thinking and editorial instinct

 Ability to take initiative, self start and work independently yet collaboratively on a small team that values teamwork, and each other

The Brief
FOX 5 DC is seeking a Digital Editorial Lead to drive the editorial vision for digital, social, streaming, and connected TV coverage across the DMV. Based in our Bethesda newsroom, this role leads the local digital team and works closely with regional partners to grow audience, elevate storytelling, and deliver breaking news and weather coverage across every platform.

1. Establish and maintain a forward-looking editorial strategy that aligns with institutional priorities and elevates the school&rsquo;s reputation as a thought leader in public health.

3. Act as the primary liaison for faculty to translate complex scientific scholarship into accessible messaging frameworks for use by the Multimedia and Web teams.
4. Identify emerging trends in digital storytelling, audience engagement, and content formats; recommend new approaches to amplify reach and influence.
5. Serve as the Managing Editor for the school&rsquo;s publications (magazine and newsletters), overseeing story selection, long-form writing, quality control, and editorial integrity. Collaborate with the Multimedia Lead (who serves as creative lead) to align narrative content with visual design.
6. Partner with academic leadership, department and research centers/units, as well as offices of education, development and alumni affairs (and others) to ensure unified messaging and tone across all platforms.
7. Conceptualize and author editorial initiatives that position the school as a global voice in public health&mdash;such as thematic series, signature reports, and strategic campaigns (Op-Eds, etc.).
8. Provide the CCMO and Dean with messaging frameworks - and write messages - for high-stakes moments, including crisis response and major institutional announcements.
9. Long-Term Editorial Roadmaps: Develop multi-year editorial plans that anticipate institutional priorities and external trends, ensuring adaptability and innovation.
10. Use analytics and insights to refine messaging for key audiences, ensuring relevance and resonance.

Job Description The Assembly Network is looking for an ambitious and experienced editor to oversee CityView Magazine, our monthly arts and culture magazine, as well as several special annual issues. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an award-winning monthly publication that has served Fayetteville and Cumberland County since 2006. You&rsquo;ll join an editorial team that tells the stories of Fayetteville while also being part of The Assembly Network, which includes regional newsrooms working to bolster and deepen journalism across North Carolina.The magazine editor owns the day-to-day editorial processes, workflow, and production management of the print magazine and special issues such as Destination FAY, Guide to Giving, and directories.
