Must have extensive teaching/tutoring experience and at least a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree. Tutoring schedule is flexible. <div><p>Sylvan Learning is the industry leader in supplemental education for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. We are looking for an Elementary Studies Tutor who loves working with young learners and is dedicated to helping every child succeed at our Lewis Center location.</p>
<p>
As a Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on our proven curriculum and given the tools to provide personalized instruction in reading, writing, math, and study skills in a small group setting. Evening and weekend hours are available. If you aspire to inspire, we want you on our team!</p>

What You'll Do</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver personalized instruction using Sylvan programs across core elementary subjects</li>
<li>Supervise, engage, and motivate students during each session</li>
<li>Reward students for effort and completed work</li>
<li>Track and document individual student progress</li>
<li>Communicate student needs to the center director</li>
<li>Foster a warm, encouraging learning environment where students feel confident</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Requirements</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Four-year degree or equivalent required</li>
<li>Teaching credential (current or expired) strongly preferred</li>
<li>1&ndash;2 years of teaching or tutoring experience preferred</li>
<li>Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension a plus</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to multitask and adapt to individual student needs</li>

Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing</li><li>
18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent</li><li>
A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States</li><li>
Able to successfully complete a background check</li></ul><br>

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run August 2026&ndash;June 2027.</p><ul><li>
35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)</li><li>
Daytime hours (corresponding with school start and end times)</li><li>
Monday-Friday (no weekends)</li><li>
Time off on holidays and school release days</li></ul><div></div><p><br>
Part-time positions are also available at 25 &amp; 15 hours per week!</p><p>
AmeriCorps positions include a total service-hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site-based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed.</p><div></div><div><b><br>
