Job Summary and Qualifications</b></h5><p>
The Emergency Services (ES) Transport EMT will operate on the Chippenham Hospital EMS Transport Services&rsquo; Team. The primary duty of the Transport EMT will be to assist the Paramedic in rendering safe and effective treatment and transport of Chippenham Hospital patients on the Chippenham Hospital EMS Transport Services&rsquo; ambulance. The Transport EMT will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.</p><ul><li>Ensures the readiness of Chippenham Hospital EMS ambulances for service.</li><li>Performs checks on ambulance mechanical systems and all included medical equipment to verify full and safe working condition.</li><li>Completes daily supply check-offs, checks for dated equipment expiration, and stocks as appropriate. Maintains an aesthetically clean and safe ambulance and associated work area.</li><li>Reports all issues of ambulance readiness to the Chief of EMS Operations immediately.
</li><li>Remains available to render BLS mutual aid care to other agencies, mass casualty events, and declared disasters as outlined in Florida Statute Ch. 401.
</li><li>Provides care for patients pursuant to the Basic Life Support guidelines outlined in F.S. 401.25. Operates within Medical Protocols established by the Chippenham Hospital EMS Medical Director.
</li><li>Operates Chippenham Hospital EMS ambulance in accordance with Emergency Vehicle Operations training. Maintains safety and control of the ambulance at all times, through the use of appropriate speed, braking, and cornering techniques.</li><li>Applies the practice of &ldquo;due regard&rdquo; at all times, and follows all State and local regulations on emergency equipment. Meets all current requirements of Chapter 64E-2 of the Florida Administrative Code.
</li><li>Documents all patient information and care factually and accurately. Includes all applicable insurance information and signatures as needed. Ensures documentation for every patient transported is completed prior to the end of each shift.
</li><li>Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service, and performs stocking as needed
</li><li>Maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior of ambulance and EMS equipment
</li><li>Responds to Chippenham EMS Transport Services requests for the transport of patients from Chippenham Hospital facilities
</li><li>Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the secondary provider and assistant to the Paramedic or other healthcare provider during interfacility transports
</li><li>Provides primary patient care activities on transports approved to be at the BLS level by the attending physician or EMS Medical Director

Critical Care Transport</p><p></p><p>
REX Critical Care Transport services work closely with neurologists, pulmonologists, emergency physicians, hospitalists and cardiologists to provide a continuum of care between tertiary facilities and UNC REX Hospital.</p><p>
Our transport services include Critical Care Transport (CCT) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) transportation to and from UNC REX Hospital, UNC Hospitals, affiliates and other regional medical facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.</p><p>
Our CCT teams are trained and equipped to transport post-cardiac arrest, STEMI, CVA, respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, high-risk obstetrical and other critical patients. They also have the ability to:</p><p></p><ul><li>

Summary:<br>
The EMT/Basic Critical Care Transport position requires the EMT to transfer injured or critically ill patients between hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Ability to adapt to new skills and information is essential to succeed in this role. This position is physically demanding and requires excellent driving and customer service skills along with some computer skills. It is essential that EMTs in this capacity are comfortable with providing out-of-hospital care and willing to learn new skills to facilitate the transfer of patients.</p><p></p><p><br>

<p><b>Reports to Fire Lieutenant</b></p>
<p><b>PURPOSE</b></p>
<p>This position is responsible for the protection of life and property by combating, extinguishing and preventing fires. Work includes the use of fire and rescue equipment at the scene of emergencies. Employees are responsible for maintaining, inspecting and cleaning department vehicles and other associated equipment. Standards and procedures are established; however, independent judgment is required of the employee during emergency incidents. Duties occasionally involve strenuous exertion under hazardous conditions of extreme heat, smoke and confined spaces.</p>
<p><b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p>
<p><b>FF/EMT TRAINEE</b></p>
<ul><li>Actively supports and upholds the department&rsquo;s mission and values</li>
<li>Attends an orientation training designed to provide an overall of the Southern Pines Fire Department including knowledge of firefighting and medical procedures, tools and equipment, and physical fitness</li>
<li>Receives training to develop an awareness of the overall Fire Department functions, responsibilities of Firefighters and how they relate to field operations</li>
<li>Participate in training program and in on-the-job training activities; drill with engine company members; attend special instruction sessions in firefighting, rescue and emergency medical procedures and techniques</li>
<li>Learn the proper procedures for responding to fire incidents, including laying lines of hose, directing streams of water, carrying and setting up ladders and other equipment, including motorized equipment, ventilating buildings, performing rescue work and cleaning up after fires to limit water damage</li>
<li>Learn the proper procedures and techniques for rendering first aid and emergency medical assistance</li>
<li>Learn to clean and service firefighting apparatus and equipment, including motorized equipment; test and wash hose; and other equipment</li>
<li>Learn and follow all applicable safety procedures</li>
<li>Meet the criteria established by the department for acceptable performance at each step or level of training in order to progress to the next level</li>
<li>Participate in cleaning and maintaining facilities, grounds, equipment and apparatus; ensure that appropriate conditions are maintained at assigned facility; ensure that all equipment and apparatus is in a constant state of readiness for emergency calls</li>

<p><b>FF/EMT I</b></p>

<ul><li>Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders; ventilate burning structures; enter buildings to evacuate occupants</li>
<li>Operate all types of fire operation and rescue equipment including portable fire extinguishers, pike poles, hand lines, smoke ejectors, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, aerial ladder equipment and emergency medical equipment</li>
<li>Respond to emergency medical incidents; evaluate patient needs and administer proper emergency medical care until relieved by proper medical personnel</li>
<li>Perform search and rescue of individuals in hazardous environments including collapsed buildings, auto accidents, hazardous material spills and confined spaces</li>
<li>Attend special instruction in firefighting emergency medical techniques; perform drills with other engine company staff; become familiar with district, established response routes and hydrant system; prepare and maintain a variety of firefighting preplan drawings and schematics</li>
<li>Provide public information on fire prevention, CPR and career opportunities</li>
<li>Use departmental computer equipment to input, review and access records, information and other various data</li>
<li>Drive fire apparatus and/or operate fire apparatus on emergency calls or at incident scene</li>

Performs emergency operations and assistance with fires, entrapments, auto accidents, collapsed buildings, hazardous materials incidents, mass casualty incidents, and assists in rescues requiring special and technical skills; operates fire and rescue apparatus and equipment</li>
<li>Assists Company Officer / Driver Operator at the assigned station; Provides thorough mentoring through the preceptor program</li>
<li>Performs routine clerical and administrative functions such as preparing reports and completing forms; performs work using computers and appropriate approved software; conducts training sessions for other firefighters and the public; assists in developing training programs and aids</li>
