 Responds to emergency scenes including, but is not limited to, fire, medical, bomb threats, flooding, sprinkler system discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and numerous other types of incidents.

 Arrives on scene, performs scene size up, and relays information to central dispatch center and on-duty supervisor of current situation and any immediate needs.

 Performs rescue procedures to include, but is not limited to, vehicle extrication, machinery extrication, and high angle and low angle rescue.

Under direction of the Fire Lieutenant or above, the Vallen Firefighter will perform a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical and other emergency services. Firefighters will inspect, test, provide maintenance and repairs to Life Safety Equipment to include fire extinguishers, hoses, monitors, respirators (SCBA), etc. Vallen Firefighters will also provide appropriate documentation ensuring accurate testing and repair.

The Green Health and Wellness Center Emergency Department offers 24-hour emergency care with board-certified, emergency medicine physicians who are available around-the-clock to provide comprehensive care to adults and children. Backed by the full resources of Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Cleveland Clinic, the Emergency Department provides advanced care in the Bath community. Paramedics provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies. The Paramedic's role is to assess the urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions. Paramedics are the most highly trained emergency medical responders. A caregiver in this position work PRN (as needed) variable shifts from 7:00 a.m. &ndash; 7:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Obtain and record vital signs. Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning. Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks. Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes. Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints. Size crutches and teach crutch walking. Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc. Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices. Transport patients and specimens. Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment. Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy. Perform fluid/drug administration. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) One year of experience as an EMT-P Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
