<p><b>Purpose and Functions:</b></p><p>The WIOA Career Advisor plays a vital role in delivering individualized career guidance, job placement assistance, and support services to help customers achieve long-term self-sufficiency through gainful employment. The advisor is responsible for case management, program delivery, job readiness facilitation, and collaboration with local employers, training institutions, and social service agencies.</p><p><b>General Responsibilities:</b></p><p>&middot; Interview and assess customers to determine program eligibility, service needs, and appropriate training or support.</p><p>&middot; Develop and maintain individualized career plans, including training goals, job search strategies, and supportive service coordination.</p><p>&middot; Assist participants in identifying their strengths, interests, skills, and career goals to develop realistic employment pathways leading to self-sufficiency.</p><p>&middot; Motivate and encourage customers through regular contact (minimum one to two times monthly) and post-employment follow-up to support job retention and advancement.</p><p>&middot; Facilitate job readiness workshops and provide hands-on assistance with resumes, applications, interview techniques, and career development.</p><p>&middot; Build and maintain relationships with local employers to support job placements, internships, and work experience opportunities.</p><p>&middot; Collaborate with American Job Center staff, workforce partners, training providers, and community agencies to coordinate comprehensive client services.</p><p>&middot; Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all services and interactions in electronic case management systems such as Jobs4TN.</p><p>&middot; Track customer attendance, case notes, and performance benchmarks in accordance with program guidelines and funding requirements.</p><p>&middot; Provide referrals to community and social service agencies as needed to address barriers to employment.</p><p>&middot; Adjust coaching techniques based on individual client needs and learning styles, providing clear expectations and continuous support.</p><p>&middot; Maintain a customer service-oriented approach with all clients, partners, and colleagues.</p><p>&middot; Meet all required performance goals and outcomes for assigned programs.</p><p>&middot; Participate in cross-training and provide support across other programs and offices operated by Workforce Essentials, Inc. as needed.</p><p>&middot; Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the success of career services programs.</p><p>&middot; Some travel may be required within the local workforce area.</p><p><b>Additional Responsibilities:</b></p><p>The above description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees in this position. High school diploma required.</p><p>&middot; A minimum of two years of previous work experience in staffing, employment and training, alternative adult education, counseling or related field is required. Nonprofit experience and training in trauma- informed care, family-centered coaching, and ACES preferred.</p><p>&middot; Must have reliable transportation, a valid, unrestricted driver&rsquo;s license, a good driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance. Position may require some travel; reimbursed at the state travel rate.</p><p><b>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualities:</b></p><p>&middot; Strong knowledge of local labor market trends, community resources, human service agencies, and training institutions and their programs.</p><p>&middot; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with clients, employers, colleagues, and partners.</p><p>&middot; Demonstrated strong customer service orientation and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with a diverse and demanding customer base.</p><p>&middot; Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.</p><p>&middot; Skilled in conducting and interpreting basic skills assessments to guide career planning and service delivery.</p><p>&middot; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and related software programs and online information systems; experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual meeting platforms preferred.</p><p>&middot; Working knowledge of Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate data within spreadsheets.</p><p>&middot; Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet performance goals in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.</p><p>&middot; Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment when handling sensitive information.</p><p>&middot; Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</p><p>&middot; Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.</p><p>&middot; Self-motivated, results-driven, and flexible in managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities.</p><p>&middot; Capable of sitting for extended periods while performing data entry and computer-based work.</p><p><b>Position Type &amp; Expected Hours of Work:</b></p><p>This is a salary, full time position based on a 37.5 hour work week. This position follows the work schedule of the American Job Center Hours. Unless otherwise stated, normal work hours of work are 8:00 &ndash; 4:30, Monday through Friday.
