 Saatva is seeking a proactive and entrepreneurial Corporate Counsel with 3+ years of experience to join our legal team. The Corporate Counsel will serve as the second-in-command of Whitestone&rsquo;s legal department and will report directly to the General Counsel. This position offers the chance to help define how legal and compliance support the business, establish processes, and drive solutions that balance risk with commercial needs. It is well suited for a strong generalist who enjoys variety and wants to contribute at both strategic and hands-on levels. In this role you will support all major business functions, with emphasis on employment law, commercial contracts, consumer protection, and e-commerce. The role spans domestic and international work, giving you exposure to a broad legal landscape. As the business continues to expand across the retail and e-commerce landscape, Saatva is growing its legal team to support that scale. We&rsquo;re seeking an experienced Wage &amp; Hour Intake Attorney to assess potential claims under California labor law, with a focus on class action and PAGA matters, and identify which cases are viable for representative litigation. The role involves conducting legal and background research, reviewing key agreements, and gathering additional facts through client and referral-partner communication. You&rsquo;ll also help keep case information organized by maintaining internal tracking and intake systems.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Review and analyze prospective wage and hour claims for potential class action and PAGA litigation, identifying viable causes of action and assessing suitability for representative action under California labor law.</li><li>
Conduct legal and litigation research using LexisNexis, CNS, and Trellis to evaluate company litigation history, prior filings, arbitration enforcement trends, and relevant case law.</li><li>
Review severance agreements, arbitration agreements and collective bargaining agreements for Unions to assess enforceability.</li><li>
Perform corporate and financial research using Dun &amp; Bradstreet, ZoomInfo, PPP databases, public records, and other investigative tools to evaluate company size, revenue, employee headcount, and overall case feasibility.</li><li>
Communicate directly with prospective and existing clients to obtain supplemental facts if needed.</li><li>
Maintain and update internal tracking systems regarding related cases.</li><li>
Evaluate cases referred by outside referral partners to determine whether matters warrant intake, further investigation, or declination based on legal merit.</li></ul>
Requirements:

Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school</li><li>
Licensure: Active member in good standing with the California State Bar</li><li>

 The Legal Counsel role will be responsible for providing in-house legal guidance on workplace-related issues, ensuring compliance with labor laws while protecting the rights of employer and employees. The Legal Counsel will assist in the resolution of disputes and manage litigation/arbitration, while reviewing and interpreting legal requirements and effectively communicating these to the business/external stakeholders. This position reports to the Sr. LegalCounsel.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Interpret and apply local, state (Georgia), and federal employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, and FLSA.
 </li>
 <li>
 Draft, review, and update employee handbooks, offer letters, non-compete agreements, and separation packages to ensure they are legally sound and enforceable under Georgia law.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide real-time counsel to HR and executive leadership on sensitive matters such as terminations, disciplinary actions, and internal investigations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Manage and oversee outside counsel for employment-related litigation. Represent the company in administrative hearings before the EEOC or the Georgia Department of Labor.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct regular training sessions for management on wage-and-hour compliance, harassment prevention, and evolving labor standards.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design, build, and improve legal team processes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Consult and protect Qcells against legal risks, penalties, and investigations.

 Required Qualifications

 Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or an equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
 </li>
 <li>
 A member in good standing with a state bar association.
 </li>

 Experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).

 <li>
 Professional legal experience handling legal disputes such as litigation and arbitration.

 7+ years of experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).
