Job Overview:</b><br>

The Civic Engagement Director is a senior level leader whose role is to build LA Voice and LA Voice Action&rsquo;s short and long-term power through civic and voter engagement strategies. This body of work includes year-round nonpartisan integrated voter engagement campaigns, lobbying campaigns focused on passing specific ballot measures, and electoral campaigns via LA Voice Action.<br>

This role collaborates closely with the Director of Organizing and organizing staff to align civic engagement strategies with LA Voice&rsquo;s issue campaigns, helping to educate, mobilize, and organize our base around collective priorities during both election and non-election years.<br>
<br>
The ideal candidate will have significant experience with civic engagement campaigns and a track record of increasing voter turnout through strategic volunteer and paid voter engagement. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.<br>
<br>
<b>Responsibilities and Duties:</b><ul><li>
Lead LA Voice&rsquo;s civic engagement work, including election year voter engagement and ballot initiative campaigns, voter engagement between elections around our issue work, and engagement in redistricting processes. This includes both leading volunteer-led voter engagement efforts and overseeing paid phone and canvass teams. Civic engagement strategies must be integrated into LA Voice&rsquo;s broader organizing priorities, strengthening our leadership development, issue campaigns, and institutional power.</li><li>
Lead LA Voice Action&rsquo;s work, including: electoral campaigns and ballot measure campaigns; long-term strategies to grow our civic participation infrastructure; and building out LA Voice Action&rsquo;s membership base, bringing in new individual members and leading collaborative endorsement processes to determine organizational priorities.</li><li>
Proactively lead research and analysis of the electoral landscape to facilitate decision making for our voter engagement programs and issue campaigns.</li><li>
Coordinate with allies locally, statewide and nationally including PICO California (our core network) and the Million Voters Project (of which we are members) as well as Working Families Party and other allied organizations.</li><li>
Work with organizing staff and grassroots leaders to integrate voter education and civic participation into ongoing leadership development and base-building efforts across member congregations and institutions.</li><li>
Collaborate with communications and organizing staff to ensure consistent messaging, storytelling, and narrative strategy across civic engagement and organizing campaigns.</li></ul><p><b>
Qualifications Required:</b></p><ul><li>
Senior leadership experience in civic engagement or electoral campaigns&mdash;voter education, ballot measure, or candidate electioneering.</li><li>
Understanding of, and commitment to, grassroots community organizing as the core powerbuilding strategy that civic engagement campaigns arise from.</li><li>
Experience planning, leading and evaluating successful field programs.</li><li>
Knowledge of how to create effective campaign strategy and ability to use field organizing tactics including but not limited to canvasses, phone banks, texting and social media outreach with both volunteers and paid staff.</li><li>
Experience in the use of data and analytics to drive effective decision-making in organizing, issue, and/or electoral organizing, including PDI.</li><li>
Evidence of ability to work with diverse religious, racial, and geographic communities, and to bring a coherent racial, gender and class analysis to all projects and goals.</li><li>
Group development skills; experience nurturing, managing, and guiding teams of people successfully toward shared goals.</li></ul><div><b>

This is a full time, exempt position. Salary range is $110,000-$140,000 depending upon experience and demonstrated skill.LA Voice&rsquo;s compensation structure was developed from best practices in equitable and transparent compensation, and includes a generous benefits package including matching 401(k); 15 days paid vacation increasing to 20 after three years of service and 25 after five years (plus holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year); and medical, dental, and vision insurance.</li><li>

<div>This regular, full time administration position will work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. &ndash; 5 p.m. This position will require occasional extended work hours and travel by car within KCC&rsquo;s service area, primarily in the Hastings area.<br>

Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees. Any flexible and/or hybrid work schedules are subject for review, approval, and/or change based on the needs of the College.</div>

<div><div><b>Position Summary</b></div>
<div>The center director is responsible for developing opportunities and leading operations at a regional academic center in accordance with the mission and vision of Kellogg Community College. As a key member of the KCC Communications and Advancement Division, the director is a public representative of the College in various capacities, including at community events and in strengthening organizational relationships. The director is accountable for the delivery of on-site programs, student services and peripheral activities designed to fulfill the objectives of the College, Division, community partners and individual learners. The director must have excellent community engagement skills and working knowledge of the institution&rsquo;s divisions and primary functions.<br>

Kellogg Community College&rsquo;s Fehsenfeld Center campus opened in the fall of 1996 and is located on 95 acres just west of downtown Hastings, Michigan.</div>

<div><div><b>Physical Demands</b></div>
<div>The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 &ndash; 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.</div>

<div><div><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.</li></ul>
<ul><li>At least five (5+) years of experience in community engagement, public relations and/or customer service.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Experience working in higher education.</li></ul>
</div>

<div><div><b>Preferred but not Required</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Master&rsquo;s degree, equivalent, or higher from an accredited college or university.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Knowledge of community college operations and marketing principles.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Experience working with community college students in a service-delivery or instructional capacity.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Supervisory experience.</li></ul>

<div><div><b>Proposed Salary</b></div>
<div>According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2025-2026 annual salary range for a Director 2 position, $68,443 to $85,552 to start.<br>

<ul><li>Strengthen and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, K-12 school districts, employers and economic development agencies for the purpose of raising KCC&rsquo;s profile and enhancing the institution&rsquo;s reputation.</li>
<li>Assess community needs and, in alignment with Communications and Advancement Division objectives, advocate for the College by acting as a liaison with community groups, committees, task forces and local government initiatives.</li>
<li>Connect community stakeholders with KCC divisions and departments for recruitment, enrollment, program development, facility usage and staffing purposes.</li>
Maintain awareness of KCC and center-specific branding and advertising at the center and in the community; provide ideas and input to the Marketing and Communications Department to embrace emerging opportunities.<br>

<ul><li>Ensure center staff, including the director, provides timely, efficient and professional service to students, employees, vendors and guests.</li>
<li>Collaborate with KCC divisions and departments to deliver a feasible, appropriate mix of for-credit and non-credit courses at the center and, when applicable, at locations within the surrounding community.</li>
<li>Coordinate with KCC divisions and departments to structure a high-quality schedule of services, including but not limited to admissions, academic advising, registration, testing, financial aid, counseling, tutoring, business functions and public safety.</li>
<li>Lead, supervise, evaluate and develop direct reports (e.g. center assistants) in accordance with KCC&rsquo;s standards of conduct for all employees and with specific understanding of the Support Staff, Maintenance and Faculty collective bargaining agreements.</li>
<li>Manage assigned cost center in accordance with institutional budget processes and spending limitations.<br>

<ul><li>Monitor basic functions of the facility (driveway/parking conditions, exterior access, internal plumbing, heating/cooling, et al) and alert appropriate KCC departments to ensure safety standards are met.</li>
<li>Understand and navigate matters germane to the physical plant, including computer and science labs, heating and air systems, instructional technology, vendor/lease agreements, security procedures, etc.</li>
<li>File timely work requests and notifications with the appropriate KCC departments &ndash; Facilities, Public Safety, Information Research and Technology, et al &ndash; to mitigate interruptions and strengthen the integrity of KCC systems.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p>
