WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Regulatory Compliance<ul><li>
Provides Environmental Compliance and construction oversite on transmission Site Development and Linear Transmission Line construction projects for Duke Energy.</li><li>
Provides Environmental Oversight and compliance/inspections associated with Transmission Capital Projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).</li><li>
Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance.</li><li>
Ensure that all field operations are in compliance with permits, including road use permits, natural resource protection act permits, Corp of Engineers permits, etc.</li><li>
Document pre- and post-work field conditions to make sure that sites are in compliance with permits and environmental regulations and there are no conditions that require mitigation or restoration.</li></ul>
Field Operations<ul><li>
Performs all required erosion and sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects.</li><li>
Interprets complex plans and drawings.</li><li>
Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.</li></ul>
Crew Oversight<ul><li>
Responsible for attending pre-construction meetings, constructability meetings, and status meetings as directed.</li><li>
Manage and oversee site development crews. Responsible for providing oversight for sediment and erosion control or Best Management Practice (BMP) contractors to ensure all measures are installed as per the approved plan.</li><li>
Observe that wetlands &amp; sensitive areas&rsquo; identification are in place and that crews are aware of them prior to entering such areas.</li></ul>
Stakeholder &amp; Public Relations<ul><li>
Monitors and reports to Project Management on status of construction units estimated and actuals billed to date of project.</li><li>
Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.</li></ul>
Subject Matter Expert Consulting<ul><li>
Assist in developing recommendations on future R-O-W maintenance requirements.</li></ul>

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:<ul><li>
Associate or bachelor&rsquo;s degree in environmental science, Construction Management, Building Science, or a degree related to these fields.</li><li>
1-5 years&rsquo; experience in Site Development work, permitting utility construction.</li><li>

Working Environment
Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, rocky, sandy, uneven, rough, unstable, steep terrain, hills and slopes, dense vegetation; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and low and high temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. As part of the Division&rsquo;s Recycling &amp; Environmental Services Section (RES) Waste Stream Compliance &amp; Enforcement Unit (WSCE), the Waste Inspector will escort customers at Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, inspect waste loads from both commercial and self-haul customers, ensure compliance with King County&rsquo;s Waste Acceptance Rule, and manage regulated waste materials.
About this Role:
The Recycling and Environmental Services (RES) Section leads the Division&rsquo;s work to create a more circular economy through recycling and environmental stewardship programs, and some of its compliance programs. Notable among the compliance programs are waste stream compliance &amp; enforcement, construction and demolition, green building, household hazardous waste and &ldquo;Wastemobile&rdquo; service, product stewardship, school education, and resource recovery.

Working independently and as a team with all KCSWD Sections at solid waste system facilities across King County. The King County Solid Waste Division (KCSWD) is responsible for the public solid waste system that services the people and communities of unincorporated King County and most cities within King County. KCSWD is the lead King County agency for delivering the Zero Waste of Resources goal for the region, which will reduce valuable materials sent to the landfill by up to 70%. KCSWD operates the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, ten transfer facilities, nine closed landfills, and many programs to design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems.

B. Reports: Compiles inspection and technical data to prepare reports and correspondence. Submit inspection reports through the supervisor within 30 calendar days of initial inspection. Provide facility with inspection results upon completion of inspection or in writing within 7 calendar days. Where appropriate, telephonic notification of inspection results may be used. C. Follow-up: Reviews corrective action plans and evaluates facility actions to return to compliance. Track compliance efforts by facilities and follow-up corrective actions within 10 calendar days of compliance deadlines. When facilities fail to come into compliance after deadline, refer to the District Environmental Administrator (DEA) for consideration. D. Waste Inspector Training: Completes BWM training requirements for solid and hazardous waste. Obtain OSHA 40-hour training and remain certified with annual refresher training for hazardous site work.

How to Claim Veterans Preference
Veterans' Preference Eligible (VPE): Former military personnel or their spouse that have been verified as a &quot;veteran&quot;; under K.S.A. 73-201 will receive an interview if they meet the minimum competency factors of the position. The veterans' preference laws do not guarantee the veteran a job. Positions are filled with the best qualified candidate as determined by the hiring manager.

How to Claim Disability Hiring Preference
Applicants that have physical, cognitive and/or mental disabilities may claim an employment preference when applying for positions. If they are qualified to meet the performance standards of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, they will receive an interview for the position. The preference does not guarantee an applicant the job, as positions are filled with the best qualified candidate as determined by the hiring manager.
