The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. The Opportunity
The Sr. Environmental Engineer &ndash; AirWaste is responsible for leading air quality and waste management programs at Jerritt Canyon. This role provides technical expertise and oversight to ensure compliance with applicable regulations while supporting site operations and future planning efforts.
This position works closely with Environmental, Operations, Maintenance, and external stakeholders to manage air permitting, emissions compliance, and waste programs across the site. The role plays a key part in identifying compliance risks, supporting permitting strategies, and driving practical, field-based solutions that align with site needs.

 We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as an Environmental Engineer for the Hanford site-wide Air Operating Permit and Notice of Construction (NOC) approval orders. In this role, you will apply your professional engineering expertise to review and evaluate the Sitewide Air Operating Permit and its modifications, assess new or proposed approval orders, negotiate and prepare permit materials, and provide recommendations for enforcement actions. Your engineering judgment and expertise will be essential to ensuring the proper implementation of state and federal air quality regulations, dangerous waste regulations, and CERCLA regulations. Using agency and program policies, as well as technical engineering guidelines and procedures covering design requirements, you will conduct engineering reviews of operation and maintenance requirements for Hanford waste sites and facilities. Your work will directly support Ecology’s mission and play a critical role in advancing cleanup at the Hanford Site - one of the most complex environmental cleanup efforts in the nation. Proposal Summary:
Tetra Tech is recruiting an Environmental Engineer to lead our field team&rsquo;s contributions to an anticipated assignment supporting the World Bank&ndash;financed Abuzabal Dumpsite Closure Project, a 28‑month effort focused on shaping and safely closing the existing dumpsite using geo‑synthetic materials, along with installing gas and leachate collection systems for the solid waste body. The project will be managed by the Ministry of Environment as part of its Greater Cairo Air Pollution Management and Climate Change Project. 
As subcontractor to an Egyptian construction firm, Tetra Tech will be responsible for providing environmental health and safety monitoring, advisory and compliance services in support of the lead contractor&rsquo;s obligations under the main contract for the Abuzabal Dumpsite Closure Project. This includes full alignment with the World Bank Environmental &amp; Social Framework (ESF), Environmental &amp; Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental &amp; Social Management Plan (ESMP), applicable Egyptian laws and regulations, and international best practices.

Position Summary:
The Environmental Engineer will provide targeted technical support to the Construction of the Abuzabal Dumpsite Closure Project, ensuring that all project activities are executed in compliance with environmental standards and regulatory requirements. The role will focus on conducting site inspections, preparing and implementing environmental management plans, advising project teams on sustainability and compliance, and overseeing the design and installation of waste, water, and pollution control systems. The Environmental Engineer will lead Tetra Tech&rsquo;s field-based team and oversee four other staff including health and safety specialists and a social development and gender expert. 
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Manage team&rsquo;s site environmental inspections and verification of construction practices compliance with mitigation measures in ESMP, ESF, ESIA and other applicable regulations</li><li>
Oversee air quality monitoring (including dust levels); noise monitoring; water and leachate sampling; soil sampling; and provide gas monitoring support</li><li>
Support technical advisory and review in the areas of landfill reshaping, slope stability risks, capping system configuration, gas extraction and flaring systems, leachate system design and performance, risk identification and mitigation recommendations.</li><li>
Prepare reports and documentation to support regulatory compliance and environmental performance including monthly ESHS reports; environmental monitoring reports; incident investigation reports; safeguard compliance updates; responses to Engineer or Employer comments; World Bank safeguard mission documentation</li><li>
Lead project team on sustainability practices, environmental compliance, and safety; coordinate and lead staff training as needed</li><li>
Coordinate with government bodies and regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals</li><li>
Conduct research and propose solutions for environmental challenges faced during construction</li><li>
Serve as primary field-based liaison with the prime construction contractor and Tetra Tech home office</li></ul>

Postgraduate degree in Environmental Engineering, or Civil / Mechanical / Electrical engineering, or Environmental Science</li><li>
Minimum 7 years of experience as an environmental specialist/officer in similar construction projects including team leadership and staff management responsibilities</li><li>
Demonstrated experience with environmental assessment tools and software</li><li>
Strong understanding of environmental regulations and ability to apply them in a construction context</li><li>
Demonstrated environmental management experience in ESIAs, quantitative risk assessments (QRA), and soil and water analysis</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to prepare and implement resources management plans</li><li>
