As an Equipment Operator/Laborer, you will have responsibility for maintaining production, maintenance, quality, and safety within the Aggregates' Operations function, including but not limited to, operating heavy equipment, such as Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Skid Steers, etc. 
 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Operate, service, and maintain various heavy equipment including front-end loaders, off road dump trucks, skid steer, man-lift, fuel truck and water truck in order to keep plant clean and in production</li><li>
Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual</li><li>
Perform pre-shift and end of shift checks and maintenance on equipment</li><li>
Report orally and in writing to as required and maintain accurate records (i.e. activity reports, inventory reports, maintenance logs, etc.) as directed</li><li>
Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations as required</li><li>
Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment, including rules governing safety around railroad tracks and equipment</li><li>
Keep facilities and equipment clean and maintained</li><li>
Recommend changes to the operation which may produce safer work processes, savings and efficiencies</li><li>
Abiding by yard rules, safety regulations and PPE requirements</li><li>

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II / CDL
As a machinery operator, you spend your day working directly with light to heavy equipment. Your work typically involves coordinating the maintenance and operation of city equipment with minimal supervision. Construction and industrial maintenance projects generally fill up your day, and these involve the use of rollers, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, or bulldozers. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform maintenance on designated streets, utility systems, landfills, and including providing trash &amp; debris collections services for residents while safely following city policies and procedures. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, accidents, and hazardous material spills.
When you aren't out in the city, you generally are back at the office filling out daily reports and other forms for machinery use, service requests, and inventory control. You also ensure that the equipment is safe to use by performing preventative maintenance inspections and proper minor repairs.
