Senior Associate

<div><p>The Center for Oral Health Policy and Management (COHPM) at the New York University College of Dentistry seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor of Epidemiology to design and conduct population-based research on oral health, access to care, and health equity, and to translate that evidence into policy, education, and practice.
</p><p>COHPM's portfolio spans oral health policy analysis, dental workforce and education research, executive and leadership education, and international programs, including the Center's multi-institution Medicare dental initiative, its evidence-based dentistry and artificial intelligence work, and its global leadership programs. The Clinical Assistant Professor of Epidemiology will supply the methodological backbone for this portfolio by framing answerable questions, designing rigorous studies, analyzing complex population data, and publishing findings that inform policy at the national and international level.
</p><p>The successful candidate will function as an independent investigator with a clearly defined program of research, will pursue extramural funding as principal investigator, and will mentor doctoral and master's-level trainees. The position carries no clinical patient care responsibility.
</p><p>Key Responsibilities
</p><ul><li>Lead population-based oral health research examining oral disease burden, oral-systemic health relationships, dental care utilization, access to care, and related population health outcomes using large national, administrative, clinical, and electronic health record datasets.
</li><li>Apply advanced epidemiologic and quantitative methods, including multilevel and longitudinal modeling, complex survey analysis, and causal inference, while ensuring rigorous, reproducible, and transparent research practices.
</li><li>Conduct health equity and policy-relevant research focused on underserved and underrepresented populations and evaluate the impact of health coverage, financing, and income-support policies on oral health and access to care.
</li><li>Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program, including serving as principal investigator and collaborating as a co-investigator or methodological expert on multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, and international research initiatives.
</li><li>Disseminate scholarly and policy-relevant findings through peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, policy briefs, technical reports, and other communications for academic, professional, policy, and public audiences.
</li><li>Mentor and train the next generation of researchers by supervising students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows; teaching graduate-level courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods; and mentoring junior faculty in research development and grantsmanship.
</li><li>Contribute to the academic and professional community through peer review, editorial and scientific service, participation in professional organizations, and representation of NYU Dentistry and the Center for Oral Health Policy and Management (COHPM) in national and international collaborations.

</p><ul><li>Doctoral degree (PhD or international equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, or a closely related population-science discipline, from an accredited institution.
</li><li>Professional degree in dentistry (DDS, DMD, or international equivalent) or documented equivalent substantive expertise in oral health science.
</li><li>A minimum of five years of full-time academic experience beyond the doctorate in a research-intensive university setting.
</li><li>Sustained and substantial record of peer-reviewed publication in oral epidemiology, dental public health, or health services research, including first- and senior-author articles in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Dental Research, Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, the Journal of Periodontology, and leading general medical or geriatrics journals.
</li><li>Documented experience serving as principal investigator on nationally competitive, peer-reviewed research grants.

<p>ThrombUS+ is developing a wearable, point-of-care system for continuous monitoring, risk estimation, and prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis. The University of Derby&rsquo;s role focuses on AI model development for automated analysis of ultrasound data, including ultrasound image/video segmentation, vascular structure detection, vein compressibility analysis, and thrombus/DVT prediction.</p>
<p>In this role, you will work with the project team to design, implement, evaluate, and document AI models that can support automated DVT detection and clinical decision support using ultrasound video and related biomedical data.</p>
<p><i>This is a fixed term contract until 30th June 2027.</i></p>

We are seeking an ambitious and collaborative Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a new EPSRC Health Technologies Connectivity Award led by Dr Wenting Duan at the University of Lincoln. The project focuses on developing clinically grounded AI for brain metastasis imaging in close collaboration with Professor Dorothee Auer and Dr Stefanie Thust, alongside clinical and imaging researchers at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.</p><p>
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented early-career researcher to help shape a focused and growing research programme at the interface of artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, and clinical neuro-oncology. The project is motivated by real clinical challenges in brain metastasis imaging, including small and difficult-to-detect lesions, variation in MRI protocols across hospitals, lesion heterogeneity, and the need for robust and clinically meaningful methods that can translate beyond narrow benchmark settings.</p><p>
The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Lead and partner clinical collaborators to develop and evaluate AI methods for brain metastasis detection and analysis using public and partner imaging datasets. Depending on expertise and project needs, this may include work on lesion detection and segmentation, multimodal analysis, model robustness and generalisation, morphology-aware analysis, and clinically informed evaluation. The role will also involve dissemination through high-quality publications and conferences, engagement with external stakeholders, and contribution to the development of future translational funding opportunities.</p><p>
A distinctive feature of this post is the opportunity to work within a strongly interdisciplinary setting. The project is designed not only around technical AI development, but also around engagement with clinical workflow, imaging practice, and real translational constraints. The postholder will benefit from research visits to collaborators, access to computing support and research equipment, conference participation, and immersion in a collaborative clinical research environment.</p><p>
Applicants should have, or defended the viva of, a PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong technical background in medical image computing, machine learning, computer vision, or multimodal AI, together with excellent programming and communication skills. Experience in areas such as lesion detection or segmentation, domain generalisation, robust evaluation, clinically motivated AI, or imaging biomarker analysis would be especially valuable. <li>Experience of participation in competitions such as Formula Student and Shell Eco Marathon</li>
<li>Practical experience with MIG TIG welding techniques</li>
<li>Experience of managing a team</li>

<ul><li>Demonstrable ability in repair and maintenance of automotive assemblies</li>
<li>Able to monitor technical standards across the resource area, highlighting and prioritising any issues for further investigation</li>
