Blue Cliff College is seeking an Esthetics Instructor. This role will perform a variety of routine duties, as needed, to provide instruction in the theory and practice of esthetics. This includes the use of cosmetic preparations, body treatments, body wraps, hydrotherapy, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, creams, or other preparations for the care of the skin. This also includes massaging, cleansing or exfoliating the stratum corneum of the epidermis for the care of the skin, stimulating, manipulating, beautifying, grooming or similar work on the face, neck, arms and hands or body in a superficial mode for the care of the skin, applying make-up or eyelashes to any person or lightening hair on the body except the scalp, and removing superfluous hair from the body of any person.
JOB DUTIES<ul><li>
Performs performance-based objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements of the college and state and federal initiatives.</li><li>
Organizes program of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in the esthetics professions and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology.</li><li>
Prepares an outline of instructional programs and studies and assembles materials to be presented.</li><li>
Instructs students in subject areas such as use, maintenance, and the safe operation of tools and equipment, codes or regulations related to the Massage Therapy Program.</li><li>
Instruct students in the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits in obtaining employment as Estheticians.</li><li>
Assigns lessons to students and corrects homework and administers tests to evaluate achievement of students in technical knowledge and practical skills.</li><li>
Keeps records of daily attendance and student progress and reports to Lead Instructor and Registrar.</li><li>
Presents subject matter to students utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lectures, discussions or demonstrations; ensures the use of classroom time is organized and that instruction and clean-up (if applicable) can be accomplished within the allotted time.</li><li>
Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts, responds to basic student questions, and may initiate study groups in preparation for examinations.</li><li>
Enforces classroom protocols, rules, and regulations.</li><li>
Maintains classroom discipline and utilizes effective classroom management techniques.</li><li>
Attends meetings and training per requirements of Lead Instructor, Program Chair, or Director of Education. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops.</li><li>
File an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught with the appropriate Program Chair.</li><li>
Conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy.</li><li>
Make suggestions to the Program Chair concerning the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college.</li><li>
Complete an annual goal-setting and performance review with the Program Chair, approved by the Director of Education.</li><li>

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>
Cosmetology/Esthetician licensure through applicable state board, required.</li><li>
Cosmetology/Esthetician Instructor&rsquo;s License required.</li><li>
Must have at least three (3) years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist/esthetician and be familiar with all aspects of the industry.</li><li>
Some level of teaching or training experience is preferred.</li><li>
Must be proficient in the following areas: facials, eyebrow arching and hair removal, make-up, and manicuring and pedicuring.</li><li>
Knowledge of how to formulate and articulate policies, procedures, expectations, and practices.</li><li>
Knowledge of basic mathematical skills such as percentages, fractions, etc.</li><li>
Knowledge of educational measurement.</li><li>
Familiarity with operating a calculator, copier, fax machine, television and VCR.</li><li>
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.</li><li>

COMPENSATION
In the spirit of pay transparency, we can share that the pay range for this position is $20.00-$25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
