</div>I. Job Summary 
 
In tandem with a seasoned WM Driver and/or WM Driver Trainer, after receiving their Commercial Driving Permit, the Driver Apprentice will complete the required training to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle providing service to customers in their respective Line of Business (LOB). The Driver Apprentice will continue in this role until they complete all training requirements.
 
 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
<ul><li>After obtaining their Commercial Driving Permit, partners with a WM Driver and/or WM Driver Trainer to train on the proper way to operate a commercial refuse / recycling vehicle: * Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws. * Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report). * Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch. * Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Operations Manager. * Works closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices. * Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. * Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards. * Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager. * Completely dumps all receptacles and leaves the customer&rsquo;s location clean and free of debris. * Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process. * Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.</li><li>
Operations Performs as an on-route Helper while obtaining their Commercial Driving Permit and completing the training to be a WM Driver: * Works in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws. * Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch. * Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Operations Manager. * Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck. * Containers maybe staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service. * Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper. * Assists driver with all backing maneuvers while on route. * Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. * Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards. * Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager * Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.</li></ul>

Communicate and collaborate with dispatch management to promptly report any maintenance issues or safety needs and ensure proper vehicle maintenance per DOT guidelines.</li></ul></li><li>
Regularly communicate with dispatch management for updates to delivery status, delays, or issues, and to receive instructions. Promptly report any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, delivery receipts/logs, inspection reports, customer signatures, and other relevant documentation.</li><li>
Some routes may require driving in snow, and chaining up, depending on the time of year and weather.</li><li>
Some routes may require overnight runs during the week; company paid meals and lodging will be provided for overnight runs.</li><li>

The pay range is $17.00 an/hr - $19.00 per hour based on performance and additional responsibilities.
 
YOUR JOB: 
If you are over 21, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and seek new challenges, a position as an armored truck Driver/Messenger might be right for you. In this role, you are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of valuables, so you need to be comfortable with some heavy lifting. Your strong people skills mean you act in a professional manner and enjoy interacting with customers to develop a rapport that meets our high standards of customer service. You are responsible for issuing and receiving confirmation receipts to verify each transfer. Safety and security are huge priorities at GardaWorld Cash, so you will be expected to follow the highest levels of driver safety in all weather conditions and be vigilant in all areas for our customers, your colleagues, and the community. All positions are armed, so you will be required to have and maintain the necessary licenses for your area to work as an armored truck driver/messenger.
 
WHO YOU ARE: 
<ul>
<li>21 years of age or older with a valid and clean driver’s license</li>
<li>Have or be able to obtain and maintain active guard and firearm permits or licenses on a current basis as required by state regulations.</li>
<li>Have strong customer service skills and can communicate effectively in person and by radio.</li>
<li>Are willing to operate large vehicles in all weather and traffic conditions. Heavy lifting required (50lbs+)</li>
