 As part of a collaborative team of public servants, a Nurse Investigator protects individuals&rsquo; health and safety by investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults and children with mental illness or intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in State Hospitals, Managed Care, Community Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) services, and Home and Community-based Services (HCS) waiver program. Investigations occur in various settings such as facilities and private residences. Investigations are conducted in accordance with Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and Provider Investigations policy. This position occasionally may need to testify at hearing or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy, procedures, history, findings, or activities. The Nurse Investigator will also investigate medication administration issues. Job Duties</h2></div><div>
Scope of practice:<ul><li>
This position is open to both Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship trained or General Pediatric/Internal Medicine-Pediatric residency trained physicians. No hematology-oncology specific training is required for the residency-trained applicant. Training will be provided after hiring.</li><li>
Residency trained applicants do not need to have Hospital Medicine fellowship training- they may be hired directly out of residency.</li><li>
Both types of applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage inpatient care of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant patients. They will attend to patient&rsquo;s medical needs on admitted inpatients as well as assist with new admissions.</li><li>
Based on their training, applicants can oversee junior level personnel including fellows, residents and advanced practice practitioners and can be involved in education.</li></ul> 
Roles include:
Approximately 8 weeks of in-house night coverage per year.
Fellowship trained physicians:<ul><li>
Attending on the inpatient (daytime) service teams within the faculty attending rotation.</li><li>
Assigned days performing bone marrow aspirate/biopsies and lumbar punctures as part of our Procedure Team.</li><li>

Evaluates care to ensure that services and products match benefits available</li><li>Work to continually improve all aspects of Paradigm operations, especially as it pertains to clinical services.</li><li>Recommend appropriate staffing levels.</li><li>Ensure proper education is received for nursing staff and encourage nursing supervisory staff to attend and participate in outside training programs (as recommended by Paradigm Healthcare).</li><li>Responds to any audit for either Medicare and/or Medicaid and gathers necessary paperwork for submission</li><li>Develop, implement, and maintain effective orientation programs to appropriately orient new employees to the company, its policies and procedure, and to his/her position and duties.</li><li>Ensure seamless transition from hospital care to skilled nursing.</li><li>Attend meetings as necessary to assist other managers in develop relationships with doctors and doctors&rsquo; offices.</li><li>Identify and work through implementation of necessary specialty program.</li><li>Support and promote the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the facility&rsquo;s clinical programs and activities.</li><li>Monitors facility practice to ensure compliance with guidelines for participation in Medicare, Medicaid and other benefit programs. Initiates action needed to ensure compliance.</li><li>Assists in preparation and timely submission of any additional development requests, reconsiderations and administrative law judge hearings.</li><li>Represent the company and participate in top-level meetings.</li><li>Ensure buildings are &ldquo;State Ready&rdquo; every day.</li><li>Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services concerning facilities&rsquo; clinical and compliance readiness.</li></ul>
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Although this is a Monday through Friday position, in the world of nursing, significant events can occur at any given time. Ongoing direction and support may be necessary if systems aren&rsquo;t properly implemented, continuously improved upon, and monitored.
Travel
This position will be expected to travel as needed to multiple facilities.

Required Education and Experience<ul><li>Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Texas</li><li>Two plus years of Director of Nursing experience</li><li>Must have demonstrated ability to self-identify and implement new processes and policies.</li><li>Must be able to demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and maintain a positive and professional attitude.</li><li>Recent long-term care experience required.</li><li>Self-motivated and self-directed.</li><li>Strong utilization knowledge of Point Click Care</li><li>Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet)</li><li>Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.</li></ul>
