This position is primarily responsible for providing the recruitment, preparation and assessment of families seeking to become licensed foster/resource parents with the agency.</p><p>
Representative Duties:</p><ul><li>
Partner with the Placement Resource Recruiter with planning, organizing, and participating in community outreach and marketing activities designed to promote fostering children that are in temporary<b> </b>custody of the VBDHS.</li><li>
Participate with scheduling and coordinating recruitment events in places such as church functions, PTA, malls, festivals, online etc.</li><li>
Answering incoming recruitment calls from the public.</li><li>
Document names and addresses on call log, send referral emails to applicants inviting them to initial information sessions.</li><li>
Schedule and complete in-home consultations with potential resource applicants prior to invitation to training class.</li><li>
Co-facilitate pre-training information sessions (orientation) and co- facilitate National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) for Foster and Adoptive Parents.</li><li>
Assess applicants throughout the training and write their Mutual Family Assessment.</li><li>
Assist with conducting Permanency Assessment Tools (PAT) assessments for potential kinship and fictive kinship foster parents.</li><li>
Assist with planning and implementing resource parent retention activities to include participation in in-service training.</li><li>
Assist in planning, scheduling and conducting retention activities to strengthen the relationships between resource parent providers and family services specialists.</li><li>
Facilitating communication with resource parents in offering supports needed for their successful transition into resource parenting.</li><li>
Provide documentation of conversations in OASIS and follow up with Resource Home Human Services Supervisor. Assist permanency Family Services Specialist as needed.</li><li>
Assist unit placement coordinator with placement of children entering foster care.</li><li>
Continue to support newly approved resource parents through weekly check-ins, offering additional training as needed.</li></ul><p></p><p>

</li><li>Conduct home visits and comprehensive safety assessments in diverse community settings.
</li><li>Advocate for the well-being of children and families while respecting cultural and individual diversity.
</li><li>Apply family-centered practices and actively involve families in decision-making.
</li><li>Collaborate with the legal system and other partners to support case permanency goals.

</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Work Schedule &amp; Flexibility
</b></p><p>The training schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this period, occasional after-hours field experiences and case-related responsibilities may be required. Following the completion of training, flexible work hours are available. Evening hours may be necessary to accommodate the needs of assigned families. This position also requires participation in an on-call rotation, which includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
</p><p></p><p><b>Work Environment &amp; Expectations
</b></p><p>As a CFSS, you will sometimes enter homes that are in poor or unsanitary conditions and may encounter emotionally difficult situations. Worker safety is a top priority, and training and protocols are in place to prepare and support staff in the field.
</p><p>You must be able to engage effectively with children and adults from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing crisis, trauma, or instability. In some situations, you may be required to care for children temporarily while coordinating their transition to safe and appropriate placements.
</p><p>While the work can be demanding, you will always have support. Ongoing supervision, training, peer support, and collaboration with law enforcement and legal partners help ensure both staff safety and effective outcomes for families. Even when you are in the field on your own, assistance is just a phone call away.
