We&rsquo;re looking for a Fiber Splicer to join our growing Outside Plant team. The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cable to support the delivery of high-speed internet and communication services to residential customers. This role plays a critical part in the construction and activation of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. The Fiber Splicer must be skilled in handling single-mode and multi-mode fiber and conducting OTDR and power meter testing to ensure high-performance connections. The position requires both field and occasional indoor work, including working in handholes, pedestals, enclosures, and central offices or cabinets. A strong understanding of industry safety standards, construction drawings, and network documentation is essential.<br>

<b>RESPONSIBILITIES</b><ul><li>
Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables</li><li>
Place and test jumpers in communication cabinets</li><li>
Properly dress aerial and underground cabling and place mid-sheath splices &amp; butt splices</li><li>
Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope</li><li>
Perform installation and testing of fiber cross connects</li><li>
Work flexible hours as needed and on-call rotation which may include nights and weekends</li><li>
Work with Project Manager, Construction Manager and Fiber Engineer to perform splicing as directed</li><li>
Train on and safely operate bucket truck with supervision</li><li>

About this Role:
<p>
The Comtran Group is looking for a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician. This role consists of all aspects of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic cable splicing.</p>
What You'll Do:<p></p><p><br>
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>
Fiber optic fusion splicing (includes building splice enclosures, placing inside wall mount splice enclosures)</li><li>
Fiber optic mechanical splicing (Unicams or equivalent mechanical connectors)</li><li>
Fiber optic testing (continuity, insertion loss, OTDR and fiber characterization)</li><li>
Fiber optic troubleshooting for repair</li><li>
Bucket truck operation</li><li>
Lowering and raising aerial splice enclosures</li></ul>
