State of Ohio

<div><div>BWC&rsquo;s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC&rsquo;s seven offices across the state. BWC OCSEA Selection Rights:

Salary Information: 
Hourly wage is expected to be paid at step 1 of the pay range associated with the position for candidates who are new employees of the state. Movement to the next step of the pay range (a roughly 4% increase) will occur after six months, assuming job performance is acceptable. Thereafter, an employee will advance one step in the pay range every year until the highest step of the pay range is reached. What You&rsquo;ll Do: As a Claim Service Representative &ndash; MedPay/PIP, you will review, investigate, and evaluate medical and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims payments. You will project a positive image of Farm Bureau by fairly and efficiently negotiating and settling claims with all customers. You will also assure claims are settled in accordance with regulations and policy language by reviewing medical bills submitted for accuracy, necessity and reasonableness. You will be responsible for adjusting or denying claims, considering deductible amounts and policy limits. You will take recorded statements from claimants and witnesses, as well as work with defense and plaintiff attorneys to settle claims. It is your responsibility to ensure only justifiable claims are paid by the company by reviewing the policy and external medical records to determine applicable coverage.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:<ul><li> Associates degree or equivalent plus 1-3 years of experience. Prior Med Pay/PIP handling OR Medical claims experience is preferred.</li><li> Strong negotiation and communication skills are required in order to explain your decisions to insureds, claimants, and agents.</li><li> It will be necessary to maintain a professional and productive relationships with agents, policyholders, claimants, doctors, attorneys and others, to bring credit to the claims department and company.</li><li> Ability to keep a service-oriented attitude at all times.</li><li> Strong written communication skills are important to prepare running documentation and written reports.</li><li> Ability to spend up to 50% of your day on the telephone, while spending the majority of your time at a desk.</li><li> You will be expected to learn and keep up to date on Unfair Claims Practice Act, policy knowledge, and other governmental or company rules and regulations.</li><li> The ability to exercise independent judgment and arrive at decisions through sound, logical reasoning in order to handle more complex claims is required.</li><li> Ability to work from our office located in West Des Moines, IA.</li></ul>

Overview

The Claims Resolution Representative is responsible for identifying, correcting, and resolving DME claims that were billed inaccurately due to coding errors, payer discrepancies, or incorrect insurance information. This role ensures claims are properly corrected, rerouted to the appropriate payer, and successfully reimbursed. Complex denials requiring further review are escalated to the Appeals team.

Key Responsibilities
<ul><li>Analyze claims to determine root cause of misrouting or denial (e.g., incorrect payer, coding errors, eligibility issues)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Verify and update patient insurance information, including coordination of benefits (COB)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Review and validate coding accuracy (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT as applicable)</li></ul>

Qualifications
<ul><li>Previous experience in within DME preferably with Surgical Dressings, Ostomy, Urological, Tracheostomy, etc.)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Strong understanding of Medicare guidelines, LCDs, and compliance requirements</li></ul>
<ul><li>Proficiency with medical billing systems and electronic claims submission platforms</li></ul>
<ul><li>Working knowledge of ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding</li></ul>
<ul><li>Familiarity with CMS-1500 (professional claims)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Understanding of payer guidelines, claim frequency codes, and resubmission processes</li></ul>
<ul><li>High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills</li></ul>
