The Finance &amp; Accounting Manager oversees the accounting and financial management functions for IPM South Africa, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and statutory regulations. As part of The Population Council structure, the role works closely with the US-based finance leadership through a dotted-line reporting relationship to ensure alignment with global financial policies and reporting requirements. The position also supervises finance staff and supports effective financial oversight, audits, and financial management and aims to strengthen local finance capability within IPM SA, including building processes, tools, and team capacity to progressively reduce reliance on US-based finance support over time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role requires close coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders such as clients, vendors, and auditors.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Maintain and update accounting records, ledgers, and financial statements.</li><li>Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment follow-ups.</li><li>Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow and fund positions.</li><li>Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.</li><li>Support budgeting and forecasting processes.</li><li>Handle GST, TDS, PF/ESIC filings, and coordinate with tax consultants or auditors.</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and statutory regulations.</li><li>Assist in preparing audit schedules and liaise with auditors during audits.</li><li>Monitor client billing and contract compliance (especially relevant in service agreements).</li><li>Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned by the finance manager.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA Inter or MBA Finance preferred).</li><li>2&ndash;4 years of relevant experience in the service industry.</li><li>Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, SAP).</li><li>Good knowledge of Pakistan accounting standards and tax regulations.</li><li>Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.</li><li>Attention to detail, integrity, and good organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.</li></ul>Preferred Skills:<ul><li>Experience in a service-based company or professional services firm.</li><li>Working knowledge of project-based costing or client billing models.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li></ul>Work Location: In person
