<div><div>The Financial Clearance Specialist serves as a patient liaison for pre-service financial clearance at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and engagement throughout the patient&rsquo;s financial experience. Reporting to, and under close direction of, the Access &amp; Financial Engagement Supervisor, the Financial Clearance Specialist is responsible for managing all work related to financial clearance of new or prospective patients at DFCI and ongoing authorization for patients with out-of-network/high risk insurance plans. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic environment, the Financial Clearance Specialist will demonstrate a strong understanding of payer coverage policies while ing appropriate payer guidelines to all aspects of out-of-network financial clearance. With guidance, the Financial Clearance Specialist will create accurate authorization requests and thorough and concise documentation, monitor requests for decision and communicate to the appropriate stakeholders, including the patient. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask and think strategically, as well as a commitment to service excellence with the goal of protecting the financial interests of both patients and the Institute.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
With supervision, the Financial Clearance Specialist I:<ul><li>
Reviews and monitors new patient daily appointment record and identifies and prioritizes patients with insurance plans that require prior authorization.</li><li>
Verifies insurance benefits, utilizing automated eligibility systems, payer portals, and/or telephone communication.</li><li>
Accurately and courteously communicates financial clearance process to patients, including a high-level benefits explanation, network status of DFCI for their plan, and authorization/ referral requirements; assists patients with resolving insurance related issues prior to initiating treatment.</li><li>
Reprioritizes work to respond to requests for clearance for clinically urgent patients and produces high quality work under time constraints.</li><li>
Monitors established patient work queues to ensure required authorization and/or referrals are obtained prior to service being rendered and within payer guidelines.</li><li>
Works with patient and/or Primary Care Physicians to complete payer-specific prior authorization request forms and applies appropriate guidelines to prior authorization requests.</li><li>
Responds to health plan-reviewed prior authorization requests that do not meet initial policy criteria. Works with the health plan to resolve issues and/or coordinate appropriate provider-to-health plan interventions (e.g., peer-to-peer discussions, letters of medical necessity, provider-initiated appeals, etc.).</li><li>
Effectively communicates with appropriate DFCI staff (e.g., New Patient Representatives, New Patient Coordinators, Established Patient Schedulers, clinical team) regarding financial clearance status.</li><li>
Maintains accurate, thorough, and complete records related to financial clearance activities to support post-claim denial workflows.</li><li>
Completes assigned work queues, projects, and other duties as directed.</li><li> 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</li><li>

Position Summary:
The role is responsible for managing end-to-end customs clearance, shipment coordination, documentation control, broker management, authority follow-up, warehouse coordination, and operational reporting to ensure smooth import/export clearance, timely, goods receipt, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of shipment lead time and service performance. 
Key Responsibilities
1. Shipment Management &amp; Daily Operations
<ul><li>Monitor and extract new shipments from internal platforms such as DBS, M&amp;M, and in-transit email updates on a daily basis.
</li><li>Segregate shipments among clearing brokers based on shipment category, business needs, destination, and urgency.
</li><li>Assign shipment categories and share required shipment details with the relevant clearing agents.

<ul><li>Follow up with IMS teams regarding missing documents required for customs clearance.
</li><li>Ensure brokers receive the required documents in advance to complete virtual requests and clearance activities on time.
</li><li>Coordinate with Tax, RSA, Finance, Warehouse, IMS, DSP, Quality, and broker teams to resolve operational blockers.
</li><li>Engage with internal and external stakeholders to supervise daily clearance tasks and ensure smooth execution.
</li><li>Maintain regular communication with clearing agents to monitor shipment status, pending documents, delivery plans, and operational performance.</li></ul> 
5. Broker &amp; Performance Management
<ul><li>Monitor clearing agent delivery and operational performance on a daily basis.
</li><li>Lead daily DOR meetings with clearing agents to review shipment status, pending actions, and operational issues.
</li><li>Participate in OPC calls to review missing documents, shipment KPIs, and clearance performance.
</li><li>Conduct monthly face-to-face broker performance review meetings.
</li><li>Track and review lead time KPIs, demurrage, detention, and clearance-related delays.
</li><li>Support performance improvement initiatives with brokers to reduce clearance lead time and avoid unnecessary cost.</li></ul> 
6. Export &amp; Cross-OPC Coordination
<ul><li>Coordinate export shipments from Saudi warehouses to other OPCs.
</li><li>Follow up on export documentation, shipment readiness, and broker support requirements.
</li><li>Support cross-market shipment coordination by ensuring documents, clearance requirements, and timelines are aligned.</li></ul> 
7. Financial Coordination &amp; Payment Follow-up
<ul><li>Coordinate with the finance team to close open purchase orders and resolve GR/IR pending items.
</li><li>Raise payment tickets and follow the required payment workflow, including sign-off, scanning, upload to NBS, SharePoint updates, tracker updates, email follow-up, and closure monitoring.
</li><li>Follow up on broker-related payments, freight invoices, lab test payments, and other clearance-related financial requirements.</li></ul> 
Requirements:<ul><li>
Minimum 2 years of experience in customs clearance or supply chain</li><li>
Bachelor Degree in Business or any other related field</li><li>
Excellent communication skills
</li><li>Very good in excel
</li><li>Previous experience with SAP system is preferred</li><li>
